My front speakers cut in and out intermittently or give off a ear piercing squeel for several seconds (until i turn stereo off)....after a few minutes I can turn stereo back on and it''s ok for 5-10 minutes then same cycle starts again. From what I''ve read in Ecklers catalogue the most common culprit is the speaker amplifier unit in each speaker.
I want to replace both amplifier units.....but can''r figure out how to get at the speakers in the foot wells. Are there screws hidden in the carpet pile? or do I have to remove all of the side carpeting starting at the door threshold and work forward?
Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance . Warren

There should be two Phillips head screws on the outside of the lower door sill facing the door. Then remove the trim near the back of the door (two pieces - at least on my ''92). Then lift up and rotate the door sill up and out. Be careful around the hand brake it will get caught and snag.
After the sill is removed you can access the speaker enclosure.

Great site, they don''t cover C3s though. Not that I could find.
