Dodge is trying to one up the Z06 and hit the 600HP mark:

I used to be a MOPAR fan, years ago, when I had a 440 6/pack RR. Since I got a Vette, I'm a devoted fan.
Someone on this forum, said once, that the Viper looked like "clown shoes", I agree!

But they're only TRYING to one-up the 'vette. Also debuting as a 2008 model is the CORVETTE SS!!!!!!!!!! 650+ Hp, and knowing Chevy, the torque rating will be right up there with the Hp rating, and there will be no loss of low-end torque with a Supercharger. Well, only thing now is that the Corvette SS will be more expensive than the Viper which will ruin the best bang for the buck. Because we all know that the Viper will still be able to stop faster than the 'Vette. It's just a fact of life. O well, guess that's why I'm not the marketing supervisor or whatever the guy over the price tag's title is.

Yeah, I saw that. the HP wars have always teeter-tootered back and forth from year to year, since the 50s (and probably before) and will forever. Looks like Daimler-Chrysler will be back on top for a while and them GM again with the Corvette SS, and no doubt the D-C will strike again.
It makes it all a lot of fun.
Where will it end? Who knows? it may never end. No doubt everyone read the road test in the latest R&T of the 1001 hp all-wheel drive Bugatti 16/4::: It weighs 4600 lbs but does O-60 in 2.6 seconds, 100 in 5.5, 1/4 in 10.2 at 140+, and top speed of 250 mph. Right now it's on top, but no way that will last, and I expect that hybrid performance cars 10-15 years from now will routinely produce acceleration stats like that.

...Was never a real big Viper fan. Prefer our Vettes no matter what the Hp.

You have to remember also that they're using an 8 liter V10 to get the kind of power that Chevy makes out of a 7 Liter V8.

It just doesn't excite me.... that car is far too twitchy to be a real world day-to-day car.... I do admire what they've done with it, but I don't want one.

This is very very true!

Me, too! I do like the styling... I just think it's.... too much car for our roads.
