Just bought my first Vette (1980), the body seems to be lower on the passager side by about 3/4". The space between the top of wheel well and top of tire is where it is most noticable. The rear body mount needs replacing (passanger side), but the front is actually worse then the back as far as alignment. What should I be looking for to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

I to would be interested in an answer to this. I just bought my 80 and I have the exact same thing only the driver side sits lower.

Body Squareness. This could be a sign that the car may have been repaired, a inch or more of variation is probably due to weak springs. John Pfanstiehl

Thanks for your reply.

When you say the car may have been repaired, what repair would cause this? Is it safe to say it is probably the spring and if so do you have to replace both springs at the same time?

Feel around the lip of each wheel well for evidence of repairs, most common on the front fenders. Quickie crash reairs are often done by splicing the fender in the middle insted of replacing the complete panel. Patches of fiberglass matting and lumps of filler material are the giveaways. John Pfanstiehl. Replace both.

Thanks John, you've been a lot of help, being a new Vette owner, I just wanted some advice so I don't get taken to the cleaners on this repair.
Have a great day!!

first thing todo would measure the lower a frame to a spot on the frame.with weight then without weight.they should be the same length on both sides.if you have differnt length without weight theres a twist in frame.

Thanks for your reply. I don't quite understand where on the frame I need to measure. Can you elaborate at all?

jack up car take front wheels off.find differnt points to measure.take some time looking
and measuring many places.it could be body mount, weak spring,a arm bushing,a tweek
in the frame.my guess would be bad body mount, thats a fast fix.is it lower at bumber or behind front wheel.take a look at the mounting of lower a arm they rip off frame.only two spot welds hold it on.also very fast fix.i fixed 2 of these already.20 min weld job for both sides.this should be checked any way.
