So i have the orginal 85 mph speedo setup in my corvette was wondering if the 140 mph from the 79 era would fit into my car with out too much of a problem. I havent done any kind of speedo swap so its all new to me so any info would be very helpful and greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

It is a straight swap. No buttons to push.

well thats good to hear that they match. Im tired of not knowing how fast above 85 im going

What was the first year for the 140mph speedo that would fit? from 197? - 1979

1977 uses an older style speedometer, so I would start at 1978 and go up. My car is a 79 and I was able to replace my 85 mph speedo with a 145 mph one no problemo. Another source for a speedometer is to get a conversion done, I think Eckler's does them, changes them to a 165 mph unit. I don't know about you, but at about 125 I run out of nerve way before I run out of gas pedal.

Front end starts to get just a tad light at those speeds.

But not as bad as the mid-years.

Yeah, I do not like that floaty feeling at those speeds. I am hoping that 4 new Bilstein shocks will help a bit. Any other ideas to improve high speed stability without sending me to the poor house?

yeah, i run out of the nerve to at 125-130 also. I just like getting to that speed as fast as possible though.

Thanks for the info on the swap everyone!
