Bose sucks

I have a 2006 w/a Z51 package it has the touch screen display and nave and a sat system that plays 40% less volume and signal.Tom Hill from bowling Green was aware of this problem before they shipped out the first C6 -2006 the 2005's will work because of antenna postioning.Greg kittinger from Detroit also knew that the system was AFU before shipping.Can I replace the junk radio without looseing my onstar.I used to repair all the avionics on military aircraft.Radar/satilite/micowave/am/fm and all Aircraft survivability equipment..So If there are any GM techs out there or someone who has replaced this junk please advise how you did it,And they wonder why imports are selling more.Once I paid for the car and warranties taxs and so on I owed 70,000 .You would think they would have installed a good sound system.SHAME ON GM

This doesn't make sense.  40% less signal than what?  Who are Tom Hill and Greg Kittinger?
 
You can replace the system with an aftermarket one if you want - just takes money.

 Tom hill is the head of audio/electronics div at bowling Mr kittinger is the head of all audio/electronics located in detroit.Their diognostics said the XM modual should put out a 2vdc square wave signal.Under their testing the XM modual only put out 1.4 vdc square wave.I checked my vett with a spectrum anilizer from the direct output of the speakers.They both offered me a job.I had to decline because I am 100% service connected disabled.I have worked on equipment that was a 1000 times more sufesticated.They told me they were getting their ass's chewed from people all over the world.The problem is too many vett owners cryed about the satilite antenna being on the roof.So they tryed to hide it behind the passanger side mirror.The easiest way to put it is that the signal is being reflected off the mirror and mirror case itself which is also reflective.causing a negitive reflective power problem.This should have been found by any 2nd year C electronic student.Go to any 06or 07 turn the XM on at a normal level now without touching the vol switch to fm or am or cd and you will notice a big diffrence volume.If you check a little more you will find the XM sound is not as clear.For all you older guys out there.Do you remember being on a AM station then while driving through a tunnel you lost reception.That is what happened here.A satilite signal should sond much clearer than FM or AM .Please excuse my spelling the morphine is kicking in.I am not trying to brage about my skills but what I tell you is the God's honst truth.I did check out a 05 and the signal and sound where great.We also checked at least 15-20 vetts on the lot where I bought mine theses where all 06&07's and preformed the same way as I stated above.Have a nice nigtht and safe day
 

i looked into this mess also,gm ,s manual said go to bose.com they say they didnt make the radio ,delphi did. gm really dropped the ball on the radio in my 07 z 2lz thank god for 505 hp it helps offset it

My main problem is I have talked to both of theses men many times.They complain they are butting heads with marketing.They knew the system was not working properly before the cars rolled out the door.They sent out a little pmi sheet I think its called to all the dealers telling them this was normal.Thats when I got involved.This will be the last corvette I buy poor Q&A .I had a even had a gm tech try to lecture me on electonics communications What a joke he then told me FM /FREquency modulated signals by the way he did not know what FM stood for was better than a satilite signal.That is like compareing a old vinal record to a CD.All said and done they lied,mislead,and are not going to fix all those 06's and 07's.I think next time I will check out a jag or a porsche no more of this poor Quility.

I guess I'm not resonating with this because when i bought my car I never even checked what type or quality of a radio ("sound system" it had).

i have an 01 coup and 07 z .the 01 sounds soooo much better and very easy to tune .ive now started to burn cd,s and that has helped with the 07. i dont complain that much cuz i bought 505 hp

?????? is someone here trying to say that my new 07 vette has a radio?  i never noticed. ive been busy using the steering wheel and pedals. ill have to try this "radio" out sometime when its raining and i cant drive anywhere....

I guess that's power for the corse.Before I bought my last 2 vetts I had a 4th gen f body with 4.30 gears and 448 rwp on motor we ran a 11.23 so The Zcars they are advertising 12.40's so I would not run around bragging about 500 flywheel hp there are some imports on the street going faster.Yes for that much money I do expect my sound system to work.I don't believe that's asking too much..IF you don't mind getting cheated I won't loose no sleep.I was just trying to warn other vett people that they had been sold defective equipment.I was not dogging anybody's car just pointing out facts.For those who replyed how hard and fast you were going trying to mock me well if your car is stock you are not going that fast,you've just never had a fast car. my 06 is plenty fast for someone who takes morphine everyday due to a military injury .Corvettes are nice cars don't get me wrong and they take curves easy but you don't see many at the drag strip and thats the kind of racing I did do.I am not allowed on the track any moore because of the meds I take and on my many trips to the VA hospital I do enjoy playing music.You can not go any faster than the other 30 cars in front of you.Every car I have ever had is a daily driver.If  any of you read car and driver july 2006 compared pretty much the same vett I have vs the shelby gt 500.My car w/the Z51 package ran12.8@113 the ford ran 12.9@113  the ford cost 20,000 less and the ford had 500hp overall the vett won when all the test were done.Ihave read test done by diffrent magizines for the Z06 that put it from 12.4-12.7 so I do not understand why your hp ratings had anything to do with the sound system which this thread was started.I am looking at a pioneer head unit that play my already recorded mp3's and will play dvd's which is also touch screen and has nave for about 1300.00 I was hopeing that someone on this board had the experence to tell me if my onstar would still work.

Hey guys, sorry you are having all these problems and I was unaware of them.  As to me, I knew my 'vette had a sound system when I bought it but never even checked that it worked before I was on the way home with it.    When we go cruising on weekends all it plays is a Beachboys CD over and over, anyway, so its not like I need more than a few speakers.  I guess I've just never been into the sound systems (I buy the cars for performance I my creed is pretty much if it doesn't make the car gofaster I don't really care). 

But don't knock Bose.  My Porsche came with some Bose system that cost multi thousands (again, I don't remember even seeing if it worked, but I have come to like it).  It seems to have speakers tucked away all over the interior -- not sure how many but there are at least a dozen -- and it really it startling how good the sound is: even when I play the Beachboys.

Lee I did not know who else to address,their name is on the radio.The cd will play fine so will fm/am this is a XM problem that GM did not take care of.They knew it did not work right and sent it out any way.I used to do the speed only thing to but now I am limited to cruise's,car shows and other gatherings.I put royal purple in because that is What I used for years.My running temp cooled down 15 degrees and my oil presure increased 10 psi with 10-w30.My plans for the car is to add a ram air kit and add a cat back system on it.I too carry beach boys greatest hits at all times I also carry Jan and Dean and the sound track to Amrican graffitti.The XM channels do carry alot of cool car music and I just want it to sound like it should.Can you tell me about your porscha .How much would you think that it would cost If I found one.Don't mean to sound cheap but I live off my  VA check and SS thanks for your help.

I have a standard "bottom of the line" Porsche "911" (they actually haven't called them that since 9/11, they are all Carrera's now).  It is the best car I have ever owned -- not the fastest by far -- it got outgunned by a GTO the other night (don't know if it was an LS1 or LS2 but while the Porsche took it off the line it was just a bit faster as speed built up past 40) but my Porsche is definately the best car I have had: incredible build quality, flawless design, perfect dynamics, easiest car to live with I have ever had. 
 
Porsche Carreras supposedly start at around $75K, but a base car is pretty plain and I've never seen one in the US.  Mine was the lowest price car on the dealer's lot, save one, and had a sticker of $87,850.  Prices go up to about $140,000.
    Used Carreras are durable if well cared for and often pretty good bargains, particularly if you can find a 1999-2005 911 or Carrera with low miles.  They often run in the $40K and up range

Thanks for that info.My wife has a 06 GTO.My 04 vette had a hard time keeping up with it.I was not trying to whine about my vette so much it was just that I live off a VA dissability check and a SS check.I was told my car was new but it had 11 miles on it.I found out 2 months after buying the car that it had be used in a hispanic day parade.If I had knew this I would not have bought that car.They also used a high speed buffer on it and left deep swrills on it.Thay hid  it with colored wax..I live in florida and took the car off the show room floor.This was during the rainie season.By the time I got it home all the colored wax washed off,they had a nail in the tire,and the battery was shorted.Once I had signed the papers for the car I called and canceled my extended warenty on my 04 that was part of my dowm payment money.That night one of their salesman took my 04 commerative on a 160 mile joy ride and broke the rear end.I tryied to take the 06 back and have them repair my 04.They did not know who drove it and told me no.My 04 had been recertified 11 months earlier and I had the rear seals replaced a few months earlieer and that rechecked the rearend.A woman had the car before me and I never did 1 burn out.I contacted GM and got no help.I was stuck.I found some great guys down hear to try and detail my scratchs & swrill marks out and they did a good job.That's why I was warning everybody about the bad equipment.If I offended you or anybody elese on this thread I am truly sorry.I did ask them about the radio at the time I bought the car.My salesman  said it worked perfect.I did tell them that I was a disabled Vet and Took 14 diffrent meds a day which included morphine and asked them not to take advantage of me.I got taken to the cleaners and I guess that's why I was upset.Thank all of you for letting me vent.

I aint gonna say nothin bout the Delco 8-track I took out of mine, I was hopin to rig it up so I could use my Merl Haggard tape's in the garage.
