OK, I've heard alot about C4 temps and agree the C4s run at higher temperatures. But, what's the normal operating temp, and what;s too hot!
I'm running anywhere between 205 & 225!!! When she gets up to 226F I get nervous. That's too hot in my book! I don't want to find out what is too hot by blowing steam out my head. This is normal, around town driving at night, and she runs at about 216!
I heard you can buy a "high-flow" water pump to reduce idling temps by 10 degres. Is this true? Where can I get one of these?
OIL - You all run Mobile 1 full synthetic? Not 5000 or 7500?
I'v had my '96 LT1 for 1 week, and I'm having a blast driving her around. She runs and handles great. A little pulley noise from under the hood, but other than that, runs great. I think it may be the alternator making the noise.
Thanks in advance.

Those temps are not too hot for the engine, but i would agree that they are a little warm. Driving around town at night, even with the a/c on, im less than 200. Couple things may be wrong: the coolant may be dirty or diluted, and would suggest a flush; the t-stat may not be opening all the way; or you may have some air in the system that needs to be bled out...or all of the above.
Mobile 1, as long as its full synthetic im not sure it mattes what milage its made for.
you can narrow down where the noise is coming from by taking a broom stick and touching it to various parts when the engine is running. you can stick your ear next to the stick and hear where the sound is loudest.

Thanks or the tips.
Just had the cooling system flushed and red replaced w/green when I bought the car (3 weeks ago). Pretty sure my '96 'Vette won't have room to add an additional radiator (1 or 2 core). Will try to burp the system tomorrow, may add some Water Wetter. I think I will also try to get the car in the air and check the underneath for debris stuck in the rad.
