Looking for 1st Corvette

I am looking for my first corvette. I have researched the generations and done a lot of shopping. My question for your vast experience is what year would you recommend for a guy's first vette. What year or years are the most dependable? I have about 8500 cash to spend, so that limits my choices.

Well, I think it depends a lot about where you live. Around here, Detroit Area, $8500 would get you a late 80's to very early 90's Vette.
