Hey fellas! before i ask my question, i just want to thank everyone for helping me with my clutch. anywho, my 89 is idling pretty low, about 6 to 7ooo rpm. it used to idle at 8 but now its acting up. my service engine soon light has been on for quite a while now and i was wondering what scan tool will pull codes.
another thing, the first start of the day it fires right up, but after its the slightest bit warmed up it takes a couple revolutions to start. i smell fuel too. i have a feeling the two problems are related. thanks so much for your help, joe

Fuel injectors. Ohm out fuel injectors and check fuel pressure. AutoZone will scan your car for free.

I'm agreein' here there, r'gade... Higher rev's from a lean fire, in turn, from weak injector pintle springs. Ever notice black burn (exhaust) after startin' a COLD motor, which goes away in a moment? Dead giveaway for leaky injectors.
You can trip the codes yourself; search a few posts here for the procedure. You need a paper clip, or some needle nose pliers...

autozone huh? i had a feeling it was the fuel injectors. how do those things come out? i've taken a look at them and wasn't sure if the inbtake mainfold needs to come off.... i ment for those rpms to be hundreds no thousands but i guess you guys realized that. thanks for your help ill keep you posted.
