Low tire pressure warning

I've had my 2004 Vette for 4 months and the other day I got a low tire pressure warning for the rear tires, but the gage shows they are at 26 and 27 pounds, as are the front tires. Anyone know why I would get that warning? I got a low pressure warning for the front tires about 6 weeks ago, but they were a pound low at the time, so that made sense. Thanks in advance.

What does the manual say as far as as what pressure the warning light should come on? I thought it was 24, but I could be mistaken. Your driving pressure should be 30-34 psi.

The manual said to check the tire for recommended PSI, so
I checked the tires and it says " Max Load 690 Kg 1521 LBS,
Standard Load at 350 KPO 51 PSI max press"

On another part of the tire in small print it says, among other things, never exceed 41 PSI.

Right now all tires are between 25 -26 lbs. Should I add air to get them to 30 or 34? The low tire warning went away and hasn't come back, so I'm a bit confused.

Hi, Rita; you should pressurize the tires to about 28 or 29 when they are cold. After driving on the highway for 10 minutes or so, they should be up at 30-34, depending upon how hot the road surface is. During Winter months, you can fill them to about 30 when they are cold. Every brand and type of tire is a little bit different, so check the tread wear every 6 months to see if the tires are wearing more in the center (pressure is too high) or at the inner and outer edges (press. is too low).

Thanks for this info. We were going to follow your advise, but before going, my husband checked the tires with a tire pressure gauge and all tires read 30 psi - (cold), but the car's monitor says Front - R26 L25, Rear R25 L25. My husband thinks his gauge is probably more accurate, so we aren't going to add any air at this time. But that still doesn't tell me why I got the low pressure warning. Any ideas

Now that's an odd one. You should note that the pressure didplay on the D.I.C. is accurate ONLY while the tires are rotating. What are you getting if you check the pressure while driving?

Hi Dave,
I just took it for a spin (about 12 miles- max speed only 70) and while rolling, all tires read 28. So do you think I need to put more air in?

By the way, both my husband's gage and the gas station's gage reads higher than the digital system in the car.

I would put in a couple more psi (according to the car's readout) and watch the tire wear periodically.
