This question may have been addressed before, but what aftermarket exhaust is everyone running and whether or not you are pleased with it. I have the LT-1 engine and looking for a nice, deep, throaty exhaust that has little or no inside resonance. Some sound clips would be nice as well. Please give all andany input possible. Thanks a bunch!

I just had a shop put on some Magnaflows. I paid $300 and they welded on my old tips. I sounds better than stock. I am going to add a x pipe and remove the resonator next.

flowmaster (40 series), borla, and B&B are going to have that deep throaty soud. all of the others is more of a "sporty" sound. As far as resonance in the interior, I'm not sure you can totally eliminate it....its just the by product of having a loud exhaust. Dynomat in the rear hatch area will help. I know others have had success in keeping the resonance out of the cruising RPM range.

I have a '96 with a cat back set up by Borla.Talk about a nice deep rumble!!Not loud at all,but it sounds great. It's pricey($1000),but to me,it's worth it.I heard Magnaflow and Corsa systems are good too. Also a cat back from a company called Bassani is getting some attention.

I like the sound of borla but I have flowmaster 40 series before I knew about them. So now my flows are sitting on the garage floor. I converted it to true dual, gutted cats, no reasonator, and muffler eliminators which is straight tip from the pipe to the end of the car....I like it. It sounds like a race car and thats what I prefer. More bark, than bite but nobody knows that.

I ordered a Corsa system and it is sitting in my garage until next Wednesday when a local Corvette shop is going to install it. The fit and finish on the Corsa is first rate. I have heard that the exhaust note is great with very little interior resonance. After it is installed I will give you an update. Although quite expensive ($1000USD), it will be the last exhaust you buy if you own your car for a long time. I originally ordered the Billy Boat exhaust, but it was backordered, and I wanted to get an exhaust system installed before I go on a business trip in early December.

The exhaust system looks fairly easy to install, if you can get the car up off the ground far enough! My driveway has a pretty good incline, so it would be difficult to get it level and stable. I typically hate to let anyone work on my vehicles, but in this case I really need a lift for the exhaust.

I had Borla Stinger catback on my 86, had to take them off. 60 mph and you couldn't hear the radio with the windows rolled up. Put 3 chambered Flowmasters on and they are not much better as well as being a little to big, so they look funny. GGRRRR!

Hello All,
Had the Corsa exhaust system installed today. I indicated to the mechanic dude that the installation should be fairly easy, but he was skeptical. When I went to pick up the car he said he was amazed that it was truly bolt-on! So just FYI - Corsa did there homework on this one!

The sound at idle is slightly louder than stock - a nice deep burbling rumble. It was raining tonight (and I was in rush hour traffic) and did not have the oppurtunity to drive faster than 45MPH, but the interior resonance is very low cruising around. Remember, I have a convertible, so a hard top would be less so. The sound is identical to the OEM exhaust (which I liked), but just slightly louder. Overall, I am quite happy with the exhaust and sound. When I have the oppurtunity to get out on I-4 (probably tomorrow) I will post the results at highway speeds.

Do these systems normally add horses? If so, how much can you gain?

they dont really add horses on the LT1s since they already have a pretty free-flowing exhaust. (unlike the L98s). headers will add some power though.

Went for a drive on the Interstate and the Corsa exhaust is very quite at cruising speeds. At 70MPH the wind and other noises are greater than the exhaust. No resonance at all inside. I would highly recommend this system for somebody concerned about interior resonance. Remember, I have a convertible and the coupe results may be different, but I would not think by too much.
