Replacing a C5 with a new C6. Thinking I will need a radar detector. Anybody have a favorite?

Can I put it some place other that the windshield?

I like the Bel built-in units. Very nice, especially in states that don't allow radar detectors. :) Paid for itself many times over when I drove a Jag as a daily driver, and lived in Virginia (where they are illegal). They aren't cheap, and installing them takes a bit of time, but they look alot nicer than the stick-to-the-windshield ones.

Do you have a website, or a card, or a phone number or some way to find out about those built-in units you were talking about?

Thanks, Jon

I have a cobra. Its good enough for me. I am hoping to upgrade to a built in valentine one. Those arrows are the best ever. Plus the maker of escort designed V1 so they are both top notch just the arrows sets them apart. Also the built in ones are more concealed. If you get the 5% tint across the top of your windshield pop it up there if you dont have the built in unit.

I cruise along about 5 mph over the speed limit, wait for somebody to blow by doin' 15 over, let him get about a mile ahead and then pick up my speed. 80 to 90 mph. He is now runnin' interference. I just keep 'em in sight, and watch for smokey to pick him up. I call it "Cop Fishin"!
Works pretty well as a detector for me! And.... no money out of "my" pocket!

Escort is the best IMO

However, I don't use them anymore. I live in Wisconsin and do just what the others were saying. Wait for someone from Illinois to go flying by and give them about a 1/4 mile visual and punch it. The cops HATE Illinois drivers. Works great for me

That's what I'm saying. I live in Indiana and drive on U.S.30. I can count on an Illinois driver to come whizzing by every few minutes.

There's nothing bad about Illinois, or the people who live there. I used to work there.

It's just that Superdzzz and I were saying that we use drivers from Ill as cop sweepers since they tend to drive a little faster than normal traffic in the states where we live. I also use Ohio drivers as "human shields" so to speak. From what I've heard, the troopers in Ohio have zero tolerance for speeding. So drivers in Ohio must obey the speed limit. When they drive through Indiana they more than make up for it by driving just a bit fast.
