Hello everybody and Happy new year.
I have a problem,with the 4 Rear Spring mounting Bolts,being to short
to reach the holes in the Differential. I can not figure it out.
I was installing a new 9 leaf Spring.that I purchase from Mid Americia Motorworks
I also ordered the Mounting plate kit.It included the plate and the 4 Bolts.
Has any one had any problem instaling the Mounting plate Bolts.
Thanks for any Input.   Hester

What spring did you have before?  Sounds like they may have sent the wrong bolts.

Did you have any problem getting the old ones out?  Had one twist off on a friend's once and had to drill it out.     I've heard where others have broken off the ear that the bolt screws into.  That gets expensive.

hester,
Do you have the original parts to compare the new ones to?  If so, set them both, old and new, side by side and compare.  A mono leaf or main and series of leafs?
Give us some detail if you haven't already solved the problem.

hester, I bought my mono kit from Muskegon Brake, everything fit perfectly. The bolts are not excessively long, as I remember they only are long enough to fill the threads in the diff. cover.

I had the 73 Spring,I pick up an updated Spring, from mid America motorworks.
It's a 7 Leaf "HD" Heavy Duty.
I also got the Mounting kit  from mid America motorworks. The kit includes the 4 mounting Bolts, and the mounting Plate.
After viewing the input that I got from you Guys I notice that the update Spring was
a Thicker Spring.
But I wonder why mid America did'nt notice, that I would need longer Bolts for the
Heavy Duty Spring.Iam not going to beat up on them for most part they are right on
the money.
I just pick up some longer Bolts from a Local company.I mounted the spring today.
so iam ready for the next mistery,I also pick up the offset Trailing Arms and the adjustable Strut Rods. which are also an up grade from the Original, but I notice that the metal plates
that's included in the kit, that cover the hole that the Cam Bolt was,  were a Tab too large.
I Grind them down untill they fit into the slot where the original Cam bolts went.
I wont need the Cam bolts any more because I have the  adjustable Strut Rods.
Hey I have a long way to go b4 iam finish with the project.
Thanks to 73 Shark,Texas Jim,78 Buckshot, for the input. It's nice to have some palce where you can go to, not leave home, and find good input.

...."I also got the Mounting kit  from mid America motorworks. The kit includes the 4 mounting Bolts, and the mounting Plate."....

The sales people are not mech, and probly don't own a U.S. made car, let alone a Vette.  They probly have a standard kit they sell, and that's what the salesman gave ya. ( Him or a new parts picker. )
Been watchin' things progress. Haven't commented since it looks like the situation was handled by the time I got here.

...."It's nice to have some palce where you can go to, not leave home, and find good input."....and great people..!

Exactly what got me to stay with this site.

What grade bolts did you get?

Sounds like you're setting up a racer.    If I remember, that 7 leaf is good for about 500 lb/in.
