The title pretty much says it - Spring has sprung, it was warm today, in the 70's. I took the 'Vette out for a blast, she enjoyed the ride as much as I did. Next I'll be thinking about a trip to the dragstrip. Hopefully I can get some friends to go with me so they can get some pictures and some videos so I can post them here.
I am sure that many of you are making progress with your projects, let's see some posts, hopefully with some pictures showing your progress!
I know how hard it is to pick up the camera when you are up to your elbows in grease and grit - but someone's gotta do it. If you keep enough cold beer around I am sure that someone will volunteer!

I could not believe how nice today was. It was painful for me since I am away at college and I know the vette is sitting in the garage under her cover waiting to be driven
Where are you from DeeVeeEight? or better yet what track so you go to?
It was in the 70's here too Wednesday so I took a day off and went for a ride with the tops off, to cool! PG.

Be glad you're not here... 34 degree HIGH temp... 3'' of snow. At least the skiing is still good... 460" this year at the top and still coming down. At this rate I'll be skiing through July on Big Mountain, then start up on the snowfields in Glacier Park! I probably don't need to say it, but the Vette is still in the garage. I have been driving the TR on nice days that don't require the 4x4.
Oh well... we do live here for a reason...

I can't drive my car in these days since the "special insurance" with US licence plates expired. On monday I'll hopefully have the italian plates and drive again.
Anyway in past 3 months ( jan-feb-march) I made 650 miles with my Vette ( lost only 200g oil from crankcase ). I take the chance to ask you where to refill the engine oil. look at pics of my heads

The big chrome cap on your right valve cover that has the black hose comin' out. Unscrew it, about 1/4 to 1/2 turn, and pour in your oil.

Hi Aldo, you can pull the breather out of the valve cover or pull the PCV valve out and insert a small funnel in that hole, both will accomplish the same thing. The oil will take a few minutes to make it's way to the oil pan so just add a little at a time and check at the dipstick.

I am in Southern New Jersey. I get out to Atco Raceway occasionally and once in a while I go up to Englishtown.

Does the hose from the breather on the passenger side go to the air cleaner base? If so, make sure it has some type of flame arrestor on the carb side to prevent a backfire from setting off crankcase fumes.

thanks,
the passenger side breather goes to the air cleaner via a hose. I have removed the big chrome cap just by pulling it. inside the valve cover , in the hole, I see a kind of plate , I don't see immediately a hole that goes into the cranckcase...
this morning I'm going to the motors office to make my car's italianization : the car will be checked, tested then I'll get all the italian papers and plates. I hope everything will go fine.
I have waited for 3 months to get the paper with tech datas from the italian historic cars club. Without that certificate , it's impossible to keep a Corvette here at reasonable costs ( taxes)

That plate you see is probably a baffle to keep oil spray from going into the air cleaner. At high rpm, there's quite a fog of oil inside the valve covers.

thanks,
sometimes I see some ( really few) oil at the top of my air cleaner. I will open the air cleaner and check inside. Anyway I think that the PCV circuit is working well , because I have no oil leakage at all on my engine.
Troubles with the italianization of my Vette. my car has been refused due to some stupid persons at the office. They asked to modify the cars lights to adapt them to the european standard. This thing is not totally correct because my Vette is an historic car and so all its original specs should be kept...Anyway I have modified the arrangement of tail lights . I'll go to the office tomorrow. Cross my fingers...
Hi Aldo, sorry to hear about the setback, both outside tail lights go on when you apply the brakes what do they want you to change? PG.

I came home from school a week ago last friday and took my corvette back with me that sunday. It was 66 and sunny. 2 hour drive with the t-tops off and the sun out. Boy was it a blast... I'm looking forward for some more warm sunny days

to PG,
in Italy ( and Europe) the car's lights are arranged in a different manner in respect to the US.
On my Vette I was forced to move the backup covers to the outer hole and use them as direction lights only with a yellow lamp , the red lights moved inside and working as stop-parking. added a small light as backup light.
several mods also on front direction and park lights

That seems odd to me, but rules are rules, are the happy now? PG.

PG,
I finally get the italian plates. 4 months waiting and a very long and complicated iter. Also for this reason, Vettes and US cars are very expensive here...
I got also all the parts to restore the front and rear suspensions ( arms, bushings...) but my mechs are always too busy and I still can't do all the job by myself 'cause I don't have a garage and I am forced to work outside in my garden ( the weather starts to be nice but it's not yet perfect)
Can't wait...
