I would like to upgrade the intake & carb on my 74 LS-4 for performance and weight reduction, but most dual plane aluminum manifolds will not fit under a stock hood. What about the L88 manifold? Does anyone still make it? Is it designed for oval or rectangular port heads? Any help would be appreciated.

Late reply but I`m new here. ;) L-88 intake won`t fit. 1) they`re rectangle port 2) too tall. They`re a dual plane hi rise. That`s why L-88 cars had the big L-88 scooped hoods. Stock LS-6 Chevelle 454 would work height wise but they`re also rectangle port.
About the only aftermarket intake that`ll fit is an Edelbrock Torket 2. They`re made for oval port and are only about 1/4" taller than stock. The single plane design may sacrifice a little bottom end torque though and like the manifolds above it`s square bore so no Q jet. Mark SC&C
