Which Top(s)?

I am preparing to purchase a C6. Any information current owners could provide regarding the advantages/disadvantages of the solid vs. the clear top would be appreciated. Since there is not sunshade, will the clear top be hot in the summer?

I just got mine so give me a day or two and I will let you know. I have both the solid and clear top.

Thanks...any info. you can provide will be appreciated...I've decided to order a 2006 and take delivery no later than next spring but it's difficult to wait.

i would prefer the clear top, personally.

The clear tops will be hot if the sun is beating down on you. You can always tint them to help some or sell them and buy the solid ones if you end up not liking them. :)

thats why i like my moonroof/sunroof in my nonner...its great on nice clear nights, but i can close the solid piece for hot days

I have a C6 with the both tops option. My car is in HOT Georgia...so I was advised (by the dealer) to not leave the "glass" top on it outside (say in a parking lot) as the car would heat up severely inside. It seems to depend on whether you live in the heat or you can park your car where it is protected.

If you have the regular top you can at least remove it for the wind/sun experience.

Just my 2 cents...enjoy the perma grin on your face that comes with this car!!

i can imagine that it does get very hot...sort of a greenhouse effect..

THE SEE THRU TOP IS WARMER ON A HOT DAY BUT COOLS DOWN FAST WITH THE AIR ON . MY NEW C6 HAD DARK TINTED WINDOWNS SO ITS NOT A BIG DEAL ANYMORE WITH THE HEAT. JUST SO YOU KNOW YOU CANT TINT THE ROOF BECAUSE IT IS NOT GLASS ITS PLASTIC BUT THERE IS A COMPANY THAT MAKES A LINER THAT STICKS TO THE INSIDE AND CUTS DOWN GLARE CONSIDERABLY!

what if you had a thin layer of black paint applied to the see through top?

I have a C5 with the glass top and I like it because although your in a pretty closed in area it still has a nice open feel. The only downfall I have found is over the years the top starts to get a spider-web look to it (but the C6 tops may differ and not have this problem down the road, I'm not really sure).

I have a clear top and there is a shade you can put on the top it is perforated so you can see through it and it keeps the heat down and you can take it off in the winter . I wanted a solid top but the car came with a clear . Just my 2 cents but. You'll have a hard time getting a color matching top after you buy the car. GM has the tops but they are not painted you'll have to have it matched to your car. You can buy the clear top after you buy the car if you wish there all the same So I'd get the color match top or both. I have both like the looks of the Yellow top best but the clear top is a better feel from inside. I't like having 3 cars if you have both or none at all on
