Hey guys. I joined this site to get some more info on the C6 'Vette. I'm pretty sure you could care less about the Cobra, but I thought I'd get some input from the 'Vette guys. I've been a Cobra fan for as long as I remember. The same goes for the Corvette. When I first saw the new SVT 03' Cobra's first come out I couldn't think of anything else I wanted to have except this car. Now that I've had it for a year and a half, I'm at the point where I'm trying to decide wether to keep it and throw some money at it or go with an 05' C6.

The new C6 'Vette is calling my name like the Cobra did. I absolutley love the looks of the C6 and the build quality compared to the Cobra. Everything that I enjoy about the Cobra the C6 has and more with the edge of less weight and the intriguing looks of the new body style. I know that my power isn't that different from a stock C6. If anything I'd pull one a little with just my simple mods giving me ~400-410rwhp

Now this is the question....

Should I keep the 03' Cobra and invest in a KB (Kenne Bell), SSR GT3 (or replica's), H&R springs, a few interior accessories, supporting mods, and much more. Basically put in about $5-8K in to it or sell it while I can still get a decent price for it and get the C6? Everytime I think about selling this car I drive it and think to myself 'Am I crazy?' Then I see a C6 on the freeway and think 'Am I crazy for not getting that?' There are a few reasons for letting go of the Cobra. Also the fact if I keep it, all of my cash will go into this car because the potential of it is so damn addicting. Not to mention that I love the looks of it.

I'm also leaving for solid 4 months with a possibly extention of two months to study at Oxford University, England without the car. Sorry for the long rant. I'm just really torn between this decision. Any advice is will be appreciated.

Its a difficult decision, partly because they are both really good cars and partly because they are so different. If the vette will be your only car you might want to think about that: a Mustang, even a Cobra, is much more practical-- everyone occasionally needs a back seat for a few friends, or room to haul a few boards home from the lumber yard. They vette doesn't do that.

This will surprise the forum, but I would advice you to keep the Cobra and spend a little bit on mods.
Reasons: if you trade, you will have a C6 -- a truly great car, but you'll be out more money (or more in debt if you have car payments). It will be a great thing to own and drive, but you'll see others on the street every day. Yeah, you can mod it, but you won't have a lot of $$$ to do that,

Versus

Keep the Cobra, put the Kenne Bell on it and some other mods, taking it down into the low 12s or even the 11s i the quarter. You will have spent less money, and have a nearly unique car - you won't see a Kenne Bell SC'd Cobra one a month, much less one a day. The car will be faster than a stock (or even mildly modified) C6, and you will have spent (or borrowed as the case may be) less money.

Oh, and I predict that if you buy the C6, nice as it is, in . . . oh about 2-3 years, once again your eye will fancy yet another newer car and you will be at this point again. (You're a car nut, I know all about car nuts, I've been one for over 50 years -- trust me, it WILL happen!!!).

I agree with everything you said. Your right about the fact that in about 2 years I'll want something else as well. These cars are alike in many ways, but as you said its a difficult decision partly because they are so different as well. Practicality isn't really a factor for me in this decision either.
