I took my 01 Z06 to the drag strip to test it out. I turned off the traction controll. I didn't do a burn out b/c it's just street tires on there, but when I took off instead of just burnning rubber, I got a terriable reaction of wheel hop. I could hear it and feel it bang 3 times before it got traction and took off. I didn't run it agian, and don't want to until I figure out how to controll that wheel hop. Any suggestions ???

Believe me, they don't all do this. Stock, mine burnt off the line smooth and solid, a little shudder but no banging or drama.

Did you try to launch it well of just rev and dump the clutch? Sound like you've been to the strip before and know the drill.

Where did you get this car? I think you need to have it checked out?

I haven't had my car on the track yet, but I have had a few chances to launch it (at various RPM's) and the worst I get is some serious wheel spin, but it has never hopped before. Don't really know why your cars is doing this, but you might want to get that suspension looked at.

Yeah, I'll have to get it looked at. I did tach it up to near red line, but I didn't just dump the clutch out, as it was my first run with this car I didn't want to hit it to hard till I got the feel of it. Well thanks for the info.

Did you find out what the problem was? I can get a lot of rear wheel hop on mine under various conditions. Sometimes it will just smoke the tires but other time it will hop like a rabbit. It has almost 20k on the odometer and the tires are the stock F1 supercars. It was built in march of 04 so I'm wondering if the tires are starting to get a litlle hard.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Dale
