I am doing a frame-off restoration on a 1961 Corvette. Currently I am working on the underbody, wheel wells, etc. The body is on a rotisserie.

My question is: What kind of undercoating was used originally in the areas which were undercoated? Is a similar product available?

The previous owner in a cob-job restoration used a sticky asphalt product, likely from an aerosol can. I realy don't want a sticky product.

Any ideas or referrals appreciated.
