wow..great lookin vette pilot...you said "headers are next" ...do you have work done to it now?

No turbo...I will keep it all natural air...I don't have any real work done to the motor, I changed the intake and the exhause, I put Corsa Indy's on it, and a Blackwing airfilter. Most everything else I have done is cosmetic. I'm done with the cosmetic stuff, I want long tube headers. Lingenfelder is arguably the best on the market, though they are expensive. It will run me more than a grand...too many toys, too little money!

well, it looks good! do you live in a state that allows true duals?

I didn't know there were states that don't. I will continue to use my x-pipe that I currently have on the car. Hiflow cats will be a later mod, further down the road, but for now, I just need to get the headers.

i dont know where you live...im guessing by your picture somewhere in the mid west to southern west coast? some states, such as cali, NJ,,,PA...have VERY strict emissions laws tat wont allow "exhaust form modification of any kind"

i saw the pics of the vette on a dyno..what did it put out?

You guessed right, I'm in Yuma, AZ, the town borders the CA/AZ state line and it also borders Mexico, you literally can't get further south and west and still be in AZ.

The Dyno was taken before I did any mods when I went to Carlile, PA. Bone stock it pull 315 at the rear wheels. My plan is to take it back there and do another pull after I have my headers and see what the improvements are over stock with the intake/headers/exhaust combo. I'm expecting about 25-30 total...but we'll see. The SOP feel is there, so I know there is some improvements already.

I'm in the Marine Corps. I've been stationed on the East Coast most of my career (I'm from MD area originally in my life). When I was in NC, it was an easy one day trip up, stay the weekend, drive back. In the vette its a fun ride...I haven't been the past two years, and I won't make this year or next...however, with a little bit of luck, I'll be back on the east coast in time for August '07.

i figured you were in the corps by your av...i am from pennsylvania orignally, and my brother has lived in NC for many years....so ive made the reverse of the trip on quite a few occassions..but my dad sold his vette when i was young...so my trip has never been in a vette...[:@]

and pulling 315 at the wheels? i saw some yahoo somewhere with an ugly yellow stang ragtop who had a supercharger on it, and said he paid 35k for it, and it only turned liek 350!

He's got a turbo, so who knows. I'm into the natural air thing. There are plenty of cars out there that have forced air or nitrox or whatever that will blow me away. It's plenty fast though, it gets out of its own way, and it does what it does with flare...it's a rocket and I love it. I look forward to putting headers on it though...;)

yeah...turbo or not..i dont see a point in paying 35k for a 10yo mustang...the vettes are just so much classier...

SilverC5Z,

I have not been to the track with my ride, no...I'm not really into racing the car, I'm just a huge fan of the car for the car...if that makes any sense.

I put it on the dyno when it was bone stock, I will put it up there again after the headers mod...even with the headers, it will not be as fast as yours. I will need more I believe to get there. I would guess that your car is pulling 350+ at the rear wheels, where mine pulled 315. With the headers I MIGHT be at 335, but hard to say. Time will tell. I will post back with the results when I finally do it. (Won't be for a while though.)

i have thought about going to a dyno, but i have twice seen cars break on the dyno. if i am going to break my car, i want to do so while moving. :D

If your car is bone stock, you aren't going to break it. The Rev Limiter will kick in first. Just make sure it's a reputable guy, and he knows what he's doing. When I did mine I was very happy to have him tell me the car did not need any tuning. They are well tuned at the factory...

I wasn't really looking to tune it, just wanted to bench mark my starting point.

silver, once you get a best track ET, you can use that to calculate your horsepower with the weight of your car.

SilverC5Z
05-08-2005, 06:00 PM
well, my door tag says 3557lbs, but it is my understanding that the door tag amount is more than the car actually weighs? anyone?

Patrick
05-09-2005, 08:07 PM
mmm..i know that with a car with rear seats like my nonner, you subtract something like 150 per seating position...that would put you at 3200ish..i think that is about right...anyone?

SilverC5Z
05-11-2005, 10:51 PM
i dont know, and i dont know how to find out. i dont know why they dont put the real weight on the door tag.

Patrick
05-12-2005, 08:33 PM
i think it has to do with federal restrictions...i think the tag weight is the maximum weight that the car can be, filled.

Take it to a weigh station and find out...they're everywhere and only cost about $8.;)
