I recently aquired my first Corvette a 68 with a 427. I am looking to do a full restoration of this car myself and would like to know where I can find information on doing so. I have done other cars but never a vette. I have waited 28 years to purchase this car and I want to do it right. Any help would be appreciated

Try going to Mid America Motorworks' site ( www.madvet.com) and looking up item # 615-218 . It's a restoration guide for 68-82 Vettes. About 300 pages of info. Only about $30. Good luck and, take LOTS of pictures.

I am 6 months into my 69 body off restoration. get the repair manual, shop manual and assembly manual. get a good digital camera and take a zillion photos. Get a zillion zip lock bags and bag all screws, nuts and bolts with info on where they came from. I am putting stuff back together and wished I had done a better job of bagging and labeling. There are ALOT of nuts and bolts to one of these monsters. Also, have a plan, stock or slightly modified. I am keeping the exterior stock but have done after market things for more comfort and driveability. It will eventually consume you and your wife will hate the CAR.

You might also try EKLERS, thats where I found a shop manual, factory assembly manual, all kinds of books on restoring, and Lots of parts. WWW.EKLERS.com, you can order their cat. at no charge.

I have a 68 -327 original , if you need some help let me know. I am not a mechanic but have experience with the car with 95,000 miles on it , it has been good to me. Ecklers is a very iimpersonal outfit and coustomer service sucks. Find another supplier!

I must disagree on that. I've had nothing but good experiance with EKLERS. Shipping was done in a timely manner. Once a part was missing from an order, I called them explained what was missing and the part was in my hands within 4 days. (I live across the country from where they are.) Their products are of good quality and as advertised. (I bought my complete suspension system from them and I am VERY pleased!!!;))
Prices are as good or cheeper than Mid America Motorworks. I haven't used Zip Corvette yet, I haven't felt the need to.
Sorry you had a bad experiance with them.
