i was running down chenal (divided 4 lane with trees in the middle) when i saw a silver c6 in my rear view... i had seen him at a light but it was an older guy so i relly didnt think anything... he came up beside me and reved the motor... so i shifted down to 2nd and hammered down...
i pulled about a car lenth on him b4 i had to shut down for a mustang in my lane (dont think he thought i was gonna go)... he blew past the stang and i pulled in behind him... he wasnt really pulling me but then again i dont think he was trying near as hard as i was... i pulled in the right hand lane and lost him in traffic...
how much fast should he have been then me... we were running 40 or 45 when we started playing and i think he had an auto...

Assuming you both have the same type of transmission (auto to auto race, or M^ to M6 race) I would expect him to put about a length on you 0 - 60 and about about 3, maybe 4 more by the end of the quarter.

I raced a c6 a couple months ago, friend of mine, he had bought it because his girl always wanted to drive my car. when she would start drinking haha. I stayed away from that trouble. we started from a light and he jumped out to a car lenth right off the line, but then we held that distance till we had to shut at about 80. My friend later told me he was just staying ahead of me and did not have his foot in it. ??? I had my foot in it all the way really was hoping I could beat him with the few improvements I had made. Talking to my mech he said that the C6 may be geared lower off the line, in addition to being lighter and having a bigger engine, but thought my friend may be fibbing about how hard he was trying. We both had automatic's.

What I have repeated here about the cars speed was just the mech guessing, does anyone know if the C6 is acturlly geared lower in the hole?

The gearing is about like the C5s -- the standard C5s, not as low (quick off the line) as the C5 ZO6's.

Thanks Lee. I also read your old post you left a link to on hp. Very cool post. From your numbers he probably had me by at least 20 hp and what ever other factors a C-6 haa over a C5.
That day mine got the few mods i mentioned on it at the shop. they said I had 333 or so at the wheels on their dyno. They ported the throttle body, and map senser, put colder plugs and thermostat in, dynod it and did their magic with the computer. I also had a Blackwing on it. It felt much faster, and shifted sweet when they were done. But I did get my lunch handed to me by my friends C6. It is never over though. Its all good fun.
