Who's your favorite driver in the Nextel Cup Series?

I like Dale Jr, Tony Stewart and several others...

I don't keep track of what "series" Nascar is having, but I like Rusty Wallace. He always has a good car.

There are only three levels, Craftsman Truck, Busch Series, and Nextel Cup... the Nextel Cup is the highest level... to most people. :)

Never truly got into NASCAR. I'll watch it from time to time. Seems to me like Junior is the guy I end up pulling for, though I have no idea why.:)

You don't understand why I pull for Junior? I don't either, that's my point. I can honestly say that I have only watched NASCAR a few times, and oddly enough, I happened to be watching the end of the Daytona 500 when his dad was killed...maybe that's why I pull for him when I do happen to catch the race.

Watching Sr pass was the worst race ever... it was very hard for me and my family. My dad followed Sr for 30 years... I'll never forget listening to him cry as if he had lost his own father. :(

I "hated" Sr... until he was gone, and realized I lost the guy I loved to "hate" every week... I only disliked him cause my dad plled for him... and we have to have something to fight over during a race... but once he was gone, I was devistated. You just get used to watching someone week after week, year after year... and then... he's gone...

when i was a youngun i used to attend many nascar races with my dad, but anymore, nascar is too much like days of thunder....nascar needs to start enforcing their rules before someone else gets killed.

ya nascar needs to enforece the rules they have now and stop making up more rules that take away the dominance of one team or car manifacturer

Woot go Jeff Gordon, A friend of mine she rooted for the 18 car for years (bobby)and now has to get rid of all her memrobilia cause her driver changed teams , I keep telling her thats because he sucks. But in my heart I love to watch them battle it out . I still would love to see Dale (ups ) get in the top ten this year. Tony has too much emotion and tends to act before thinking , Great driver , but needs to be calmed down to get the job done . so far a good season of racin.

How about Matt Kenseth... regardless of what anyone in here thinks of him, he is one of the best racers. Not because he wins a lot (because he certainly doesnt) but because he has a tendency to finish in the top 10 most races which is why he is second in points right now. And for the record, i ABSOLUTELY HATE Jeff Gordon AND Tony Stewart. I wish Carl Edwards wouldve whooped Stewarts @$$ last weekend. I think Edwards had every right in the world to spin him out on pit road and i wish he wouldve done more damage and taken him out for the race!!

An' yeh, Stewart can drive it like he stole it, that's for sure.. but I think he's a terrible person. My most hated nemesis in the whole series, really. Carl Edwards woulda taken 50 lbs offa Stewart if'n he went for it... not that Tony can't afford to lose it... :D

haha, i applaud you for that great comment about Stewart's weight. I think that there is no room for d**kheads when you are driving at 180mph and you are two inches from the car in front of you. And when you spin someone out and he hits someone else, he should be the one flippin you the bird, not the other way around *eh-hem*Tony Stewart*eh-hem*. It just doesnt make too much sense. But, he is a hell of a driver. So is Johnson. He is lucky to be in first though. Had it not been for some driver of questionable heterosexuality, *cough*GORDON*cough*, Kenseth would literally be RIGHT on Johnson's bumper as far as points go. But, thats the reason NASCAR is so exciting.

*mad, mad applause* GREAT post on NASCAR, dude!! As a matter of fact, one of the greatest I done ever seen. I completely agree. Johnson ain't won his first championship yet, but he is DUE in my books. LOL

Yeh, Stewart drives me mad. Absolutely nutso. The guy does this crap and then blames EVERYONE else! He is NEVER responsible for doin' it... rrrrrrright. Last weeks fiasco, he actually admitted was his fault. I durned near marked the calendar as "The First Time EVER" on that day, I tell youse whut.

An' comparin' Stewart (we call him "Tony Bologna") to Earnhart is just sacrelidge, in my books. Earnhardt was a true champion, and a true man...

I dont know if anyone caught the race today, but that idiot Jimmy Johnson (haha, i dont mind him but im a Kenseth fan) was on his was to Victory Lane and he dropped the flag LMAO!! He had to back up and pick it up. Some drunk guy barely missed hitting his car with a beer cup right after he dropped the flag! It was pretty good. But it was an intense race and im glad that neither Gordon nor Stewart came close.

Hey, dude, everyone likes somethin' a little different, that's what makes this world so great!! Me and my buddy watched a road race F1 or Indy race the other weekend together, I really enjoyed that. I guess for me, I am a purist at heart. With the whole NASCAR thing being a byproduct of moonshine runnin', the boys all started out on the roundy-rounds. So, that's where my heart lies.

Me and my buddy DID really enjoy Watkins Glen last weekend. Even though Jimmie stank the place up with his 68th place finish (or somethin' like that LOL) it was a real exciting race right up to the end where Harvick did his magic. But, I have to be honest here, I prefer the roundy-rounds. :)

I hate Gordon[:@]..... But its all entertainment anyway:D. I think the three drivers that actually have a good shot at the cup this year are Kenseth, Harvick, and Kahne. I think that although Johnson was in the lead for a while, he kind of slacked off a bit. I think that Gordon was sweating it quite a bit here at Richmond and he got in by the skin of his teeth. Jr Probably wont be that big of a threat. Busch is still pretty new to this whole thing with all the publicity and all so he will probably do something stupid because he is so young. Mark Martin could possibly go somewhere, but i dont think so. Hamlin is from the Great State of Virginia so i wouldnt mind seeing him do something, but i wouldnt count on it. Jeff Burton is also from here, but i dont really think he is all that great of a driver to win the cup this year. I think i named everyone there. Anyway, that is just all my opinion.

I PERSONALLY do hope that Tony Stewart wins EVERY SINGLE Post Season race this year. I say that because IT DOESNT MATTER!!! It would be a slap in the face toward NASCAR if he ended up doing it but it would also be awesome because no matter how much he wins post season, he still cant win the cup and i LOVE IT! If you couldnt tell, i may hate Jeff Gordon, but Tony Stewart is number 1 in my little red book of people to hate.

Tony has really come 'round lately, attitude-wise. I actually am finding myself admiring him again, somewhat. Not totally, but somewhat. He had a nice sit-down with Jimmie late last week about shootin' for the championship, and gave Jimmie some real good words of wisdom.

Well, folks, we're one race away from Jimmie finally capturin' the elusive championship!! He's gotta finish 12th or better next Sunday..... no matter what happens, this has been a very exciting chase.

Jimmie Johnson: NEXTEL Cup Champion 2006!!! [8D]

What a great year; Matt Kenseth sure was very kind in his words post-race. My hat is off to him for being such a gentleman about it.

Next year is gonna be some interesting! Stay tuned. :D

LOL!!!! :D:D:D:DYou crack me up!

Yessir, he sure is on tonight. I'm gonna be recording that one, for sure! He is a very nice young man, so it's going to be a very fun interview.

p.s. Here's irony for you! Dave Letterman owns Danica's race team, if I recall. :)

It's been all over NASCAR.com (http://www.nascar.com/) the last couple days... talk about a sad day for the sport, that's for sure. The Hamilton family has been heavily involved for years now. My prayers are with the Hamilton family that's for sure. Great post, George, thanks for doing that.

Just thought I'd drop in to see what's up, had no idea that Sr. was gone, didn't see anything on the national or local news. I watch the news everyday, must have missed it. A sad day for sure.[&o]

Wicked news!! Theresa Earnhardt and Richard Childress have gotten together with a major film studio and put together a movie called "Dale". It was compiled from raw, stock footage of Dale just talking one day on his farm, with overlays of still photos and video clips that apparently have never been seen before.

Dale Jr. was moved beyond words when he first saw it. He said there was a LOT of footage of his dad he had never seen before. Everyone is talking about how great this film is going to be....

It's looking like we won't get it up here in Canada.... at least not until they release the DVD for sale. We'll definately be getting that one. But, for my American NASCAR friends, keep your eyes peeled for this movie coming to a theatre near you. [8D]

Mr. Jimmie Johnson!!! WOOOT!

Man, I think I'll be off on Thursday, so I am hoping to catch the Duel 150's..... them thar Toyoter's aren't really doin' that well so far, but I suspect they might actually be holding back on purpose to give everyone else a false sense of security.

I sure wish Martin had gotten his win. [&o]
Once Tony was out, I was for Martin all the way! ;)

07 finished in style, on his top, in flames, and slid across the finish line. Then fliped over on his wheels. :D

What a race, what a finish!!! [sm=icon_rock.gif]
Ya gotta love it!!! :)

And where were the Toyoters? Hmmmmm?:D

That was quite the Daytona 500... the first half was kinda boring, to be honest, but then it warmed right up. This is going to be a great year of racing. The Toyoter's did not do too well, at all.

And Michael Waltrip. [:'(] The dude's team CHEATED and he blamed everyone else, but himself. Nice leadership, there, Cletus! I hear rumors Toyota is very very embarassed about it all, told the teams if they did ONE more thing like that, support would be pulled.

This, more than any other year, seemed to have a lot of charactoristics, of whatI have found taking place, in other "Professional" sports. Just two words...
"Soap Opera"!
Too much media hype on subjects that really have nothing to do with the race.
The race was scheduled for 9am my time, 4 1/2 hours later...., they dropped the green flag.

Still, a Damged Good finish!!! ;)[sm=icon_rock.gif]

"Days Of Our Lives"..... :D:D:D

No kiddin', there, bro. Bang on the ol' money, I say. I really see them trying to expand interest in the sport, and sometimes that comes at the cost of tradition etc.

To be honest, my opinion on the Toyoter thingy is this: NASCAR let Toyoter in on purpose, knowing FULL well it would create a lot of frenzy amongst the ol' school fans.... thus driving media hype... and creating a larger viewer base from all the folks who "tune in to check out what all the hoopla is all 'bout"....

Some of it is kinda fun; like the whole Waltrip thing, I am following that just out of "sideshow curiosity", more than anything else...

But, yeh, 4.5 hours of pre-show was a tad much. And all that pre-show stuff was a bunch of wasted time, if'n youse ask me..... nothing of interest, really, that couldn't have been properly covered in less than 20 minutes..... :D

OK... I'll admit it. I am a Blaniac. That's right, Dave Blaney. I know he is driving a 'Yota but, I don't care what he drives. I will always cheer for Dave.

Dave is a local hometown hero. He's paid his dues on the dirt tracks of
America all his life. His familyowns and operates a small dirt track called Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio. I take my family there on Friday nights every chance we get. It's a blast! If you get a beer at the concession stand, chances are, that's Dave's Mom running the tap.

I also bought two new Caterpillar machines last year. It has been the best ownership experiences of my life. Ohio Cat sent me and three of my friends to Michigan International Speedway last August for the racewith ameet and greet with Dave. What an awesome weekend!

I met Bill Davis and most of the Cat racing crew. They are some of the finest people in the world. They didn't have the resources of Roush or
RCR, or DEI but they do now. I'm happy to see the underdogs get a shot. I think things will be different for Dave and BDR in '07.

Dave is just a normal, everday kinda guy. Very down-to-Earth. He just has a really, reallycool job. He's living his dream. I don't care if he's driving a Vespa scooter. He is my driver. He is the only reason I watch
NASCAR.

Go Cat racing machine!

Pretty darned cool, if you ask me! Yeh, Dave is a top-drawer dude, that's for sure. Personally, the whole Toyoter thing bugs me, and what Michael Waltrip did at the Daytona 500 was weak in my books....

Great post, my friend! Keep 'em cards and letters comin'. :)

US Border Patrol has joined the NASCAR scene. Cool!! Just needs some of those stick on bullet holes and a bunch of kill flags on the drivers door.
