Im new to the board, but thought I would share some info with you guys. We finally got our first opportunity to work on a new LS7/Z06. First impressions are .... this car is an absolute work of art. GM REALLY did their homework!!

We did a baseline dyno and got 451/419 with a 10 minute cool down. Then we installed a Vengeance Racing custom camshaft/Comp spring kit/Kooks 1 7/8s/cats/X pipe and made 525/485 This is still an EXTREMELY streetable setup. The car starts on the first turn, idles nice, and most importantly pulls like an animal through the rpms...... FWIW, With the upgrades torque is above 450ftlbs from 3300rpm until 6100rpm!!!!!!

Anyone who is on the fence about a new Z06 should jump now. Im extremely impressed!!!!

Where was the torque peak, and are these numbers with the car fully worn in?

When first put in the car, my C5R - (427 cubes, Patriot III headed with Justin Engrng porting, FAST 90 mm, Kooks 1 7/8 LTs, etc., but only 10:1 compression and a wet sump), made 510@6250 and 512@4700 with an MTI cam -- don't know which one but it was their most radical "street" cam, at only 500 miles on the engine, which increased to about 530/540 at 3500 miles as engine wore in: the car was streetable although it did not feel torquey off its rather lumpy idle. Considering that the wet sump costs 20-30 HP and my engine is only 10:1 c.r., you ought to have quite a bit of room there to go to up to a more radical cam, particularly if this engine has only a few hundred miles on it.

Interestingly, we later switched the MTI for a custom grind from Crower designed for low end torque (the thinking being the Procharger we planned to add later -- hence the low compression ratio of 10 -- would provide all the breathing we needed at the top end), N.A. peak HP dropped to 490@5900 but peak torque was 560 at 3200 with nearly 500 right off idle, and the car was very satisfying to drive on the street (and still is).
