I'm not sure of the condition of your car, however, you might be missing a few bushings or the leaf spring is shot. With the older vette's i would suggest replacing the bushings with polyurithane. That's how i solved my problem. DaveWJunior 08-14-2005, 11:03 AM Usually it's the strut rods. If you look under the car at the back, there's a rod that goes from each lower shock mount up to a point just next to the differential. First jack up the car and make sure there's no free play when you pull in/out on the top and bottom of the tire. Then check the rubber bushings on those strut rods (cheap, but a pain to replace if your shock mount is being stubborn). Also, there should be a cam bolt that attaches the inside end of the strut rod. You could try loosening that and adjusting it so it pulls the bottom of the tire in. If this doesn't solve (like if there's not enough movement in the cam bolt) you can by (for about $100 I think) adjustable strut rods that'll give you more adjustment room to work with. And you'll want to check things like the shims at the front trailing arm mounts, and the bearings (pain in the butt). Let me know what you find. |
