Hope you all had a great weekend!

I need a new exhaust and muffler. (It looks like the original on my '85, it has about 92000 miles) My husband and I think the Flowmaster Series 30 would sound pretty good (we went to their website and listened to it, pretty cool!). I talked to a local service tech who's been in business for a lot of years and he said he could do it for around $500. That includes everything from the catalatyc converter back (including chrome tips) and installation. My husband thinks that sounds a little pricey. I think it sounds reasonable.

I need to know soon if this is a good deal or not as I've got my Vette scheduled to go in on Tuesday (tomorrow) to get it installed.

$500 for a shop to do a cat back with Flowmasters is a lot more than a little pricey. It is more like a huge rip off! I am not a fan of Flowmasters either. If you want to spend $500 I would look around a little bit and you are bound to fnd a nice stainless steel pre fabed system that will simple bolt right on. I would look into Dynomax as well as I like the sound of their mufflers much better. Then tend to flow much better too.

Thanks for the quick response. I think mufflers in general are pricey in our area. But, I let my husband know. He took my car to another place and as I write this, he's getting a Dynomax installed. It is a little more expensive than the first place, but these guys were going to put on different mufflers so he could decide which one he wanted. (To make sure he was getting the sound that he wanted.) Since this in MY Vette, my husband knows what I'm looking for. When it's time to put new mufflers on HIS Vette, he can get something different (louder???).

Well, it's done! I knew I needed a new exhaust, but it was worse than we thought. Anyway, I now have a new exhaust. I got new 2 1/2 inch pipes from the cat back w/ Magnaflow mufflers with chrome tips. I like the way it sounds. And it looks pretty good too.

I was going to take a picture of it this morning before I came to work, but I was running late and didn't have time. I'll try to get some posted tomorrow.

The Magnaflows are basically the same exact design as the Dynomax so you will be happy. I have found that after a little bit of driving the exhaust tone will get a tad deeper sounding do to the muffler packing loosening up a bit.

Good choice in picking magnaflow i have heard good things about them but i would of choose Borla instead I feel in love with borla because of the sound and performance well take care
