View Full Version : C4 Hood Release Glen Green 65 06-10-2007, 10:31 AM Need help on a 95 coupe. Hood will notrelease on passenger side. Driver's side relaeses fine. VIKESfan64 06-10-2007, 10:38 AM Mine does the same thing. Once I pop the hood I have to step out and gently lift it on the drivers side then go back and pull the latch again. I have sprayed penetrant on the passenger side but still doesn't seem to help. cwb 06-10-2007, 12:03 PM ORIGINAL: Glen Green 65 Need help on a 95 coupe. Hood will notrelease on passenger side. Driver's side relaeses fine. When you DO get the hood up, can you see the catch move by pulling the hood release? Stand outside the drivers door, window down, and reach in (wayyy in). Does it move? VIKESfan64 06-10-2007, 12:08 PM Mine moves just like it should. Everything looks great but the passenger side doesn't release. cwb 06-10-2007, 12:23 PM ORIGINAL: VIKESfan64 Mine moves just like it should. Everything looks great but the passenger side doesn't release. I'm guessin' yours (vikes), needs only linkage adjustment (if it moves as you pull the release!) Where the adjuster is, I do not know. Get your spray lube, and follow the cable from the catch, to the release. You'll get the cable lubed, and find the adjuster. Lubing cables is a pain. Getting a hood open that has broken cables, and replacing cables has GOT to be more of a pain. Glen Green 65 06-10-2007, 12:24 PM The hood release activates the driver's side release ok and the hood can be lifted on that side. Unlike C2 hood release the underdash hood relaese has two cables one for driver and one for passenger. I have tried to pull on the passenger cable from the hood release, but that didn't work. cwb 06-10-2007, 12:36 PM ORIGINAL: Glen Green 65 The hood release activates the driver's side release ok and the hood can be lifted on that side. The fact that the passenger side cable didn't work doesn't necessarily mean the cable is broken (although it might well be). It could mean that a cable stop IS broken. There will be a cable stop at each end of each piece of cable 'sleeve' - probably one, maybe two. Glen Green 65 06-10-2007, 01:43 PM Got any ideas as to how to get the passeger lathc to release? I suspect that the cable may have come out of the guide clip but, how to relaease it is still the question. cwb 06-10-2007, 09:21 PM If your cable is intact, you'll need to pull the cable end, with the little metal 'knot', away from the arm that the cable connects to. You can then get a bushing, or a shim, of a sort, to attach to the cable, before the metal 'knot'. This should have the effect of linkage adjustment. It could probably be done at the release handle end, if you're a limbo dancer. I got a replacement cable for my '87 cut to custom length, with adjustable stoppers, at a bike shop. $6.00, versus Ecklers $34.99. |
