WAS LEAVING A FRIENDS TONIGHT WHEN MY WHEEL LOCKED UP. I GOT HOME AND WENT THROUGH MY PAPER WORK AND SAW THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD IT FIXED IN 2006. DOES THIS HAPPEN EVERY SO MANY MILES, YEARS, OR WHAT??? AM I JUST AN UNLUCKY GUY???

My dealership did the software upload "fix", back in 05 or 06. 2 weeks later, the column lock refused to disengage and no amount of jiggling the steering wheel would get the pin to retract. After a flatbed tow to the dealership (was repaired under my extended warranty), I decided it was time to install the column lock bypass. It's been over 2 years now, and I haven't had a similar problem.

The old dealer fix for MN6 C5s simply did not work. Back then, they would install a block-off plate in auto-tranny C5s ONLY. However, I believe that they will completely disable the column lock - give em a call and ask.
