IVE GOT THIS 2001 CORVETTE COUPE THAT IVE HAD FOR A YEAR AND ITS BEEN MAKING THIS TICKING SOUND LATLEY, IT ONLY MAKES THE SOUND WHEN I START UP THE CAR THEN GOES AWAY WHEN I START TO DRIVE FOR A WHILE, A FRIEND TOLD ME THAT I MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE TO A THICKER OIL SINCE IT HAS HIGH MILEAGE ON IT ALREADY(70,000MILES), CAUSE I NORMALLY USE SYTHETIC 5W30, I HAD ALSO JUST CHANGED THE PCV VALVE A WHILE AGO. ANYBODY KNOW WHAT IT MIGHT BE ?

I know you said you've had it for a year now but are you sure it's not just valvetrain chatter? Sometimes when you first start it up you can hear what sounds like a bunch of ticking/clicking...LS1's are known for "the infamous tick". I doubt it's your oil. I know a guy who has an 01 Z who bought it with 73k on the odom. andstill runs 5W30 Full Synthetic with no problems.

I'm in the VERY high 80's with my 2000 C5...been "tick'n" for years with ZERO problems. Only time I notice it anymore is when somebody else points it out.

could it be a tiny exhaust leak that after the car gets warm the exhaust expands and closes the leak then stops ticking?

I have a 02 coupe with about 48k on it and when I first start it I get a little ticking. I can hold it at about 1500 for about 10 to 15 sec. and the ticking will go away. Everyone that I have talked to has said the same thing , that its valve train noise and its normal for this engine.

I have an 03 z06 with 48k on the OD. I bought my car used with TFS Heads, a monster cam, built motor etc. My car sounds like a sowing machine. I had an 04 cobra before this and never heard anything so loud. The LS1/LS6 makes lots of noise. Don't worry about it, its normal sounds your hearing. Just let -er -ride!!!!!!;)
