Ok well I just got my first Vette last Saturday I was a Mustang guy but after buying this car i can say I really like this car way better then a Mustang.Its a 1985 C4 with some upgrades but the first issue I'm having is that the shifter mark does not line up with the letter like if I want to put it in drive I have to shift it to above the D in order for it to engauge, also when I put it in park the shifter says its in park but the trans will not be in park and the car will roll This only happen every now and then but today its happing alot but the transmission shifts just fine other wise no slipage or anything.Is this an adjustment or is the transmission on the way out? Second question is the shifter has no lights when I turn on the lights the P R od D 2 1 will not light up so I pulled the console and its missing the light sockets that light it up the wire is there cut but there and has power but I cannot locate those sockets does anyone have a good parts website that might carry those I have already checked Ecklers and no luck. Thank you for your help

 

Not too familiar with that area,but here;s some general help. Your indicator problem seems to be a cable adjustment issue. I believe where the cable hooks to the trans there's a threaded portion that will allow you to adjust it so the pointer will correspond to where the trans is. Get under the car and have someone move the shifter. By observing what direction things move you should be able to determine whether to lengthen or shorten the cable. Since it's not in park when it says it is,sounds like you need to lengthen As to the other problem I've never been in that part of the car,so can't help with that,sorry.
