Default FLOOR JACKS AND STANDS

Need some advice, tips, suggestions. I have an 02 coupe that I am storing for the winter. I want to change the oil myself.
I can not justify spending $200 on plastic ramps from Mid America Direct. I have never used Floor Jacks and Stands. Will they work on a Vette, and what max capacity should I be looking at?
Appreciate the input!

I would not use them unless you know just where to place them. There aren't that many jacking points on a vette and if you use one for the jack (sort of have to) on a corner, then where do you put the jackstand.

The Vette is very low and there is special jacking instructions. Read your owners manual carefully. If you don't have a manual download one from here

Also if you think you need to buy a new jack you will need to build some kind of wooden ramp ( two boards about two inches thick total) and drive up on them to get the jack under the front of the car.

Sorry but putting the Vette up on stands is a bit of a chore - but OK once you get used to it

If you are going to do much jacking and lifting you might want to buy two sets of lifting pucks for the C5. You can find them in the Eckler's catalog. They are hard rubber thinks, about the size and shape of a hockey puck, with a hook in one side so they grab into the jacking points on the car. You need these when you put a lift, etc., on the car. I have four sets (or two each). I carry two in the trunk all the time and left one at the shop where I have all the work done. Its better than using wood or rags, which you will use otherwise.
