Default steering wheel position sensor

Has anyone ever had to replace their steering wheel position sensor? Do you know how hard it is to replace? What is the cost of the sensor? Mine went out (throwing codes) and the dealership wanted $645.00 to replace it. I thought that was way too much. Thanks for any replies
