2001 vette throwing codes 1277, 1571, 1637 and1638
Hello everyone,
I have a 2001 corvette (base Model). I am having the following problem. After cranking the carm all of the lights go out execept the traction control light. In the DIC, i receive the following messages:
Service vehicle soon
Service active handling
Service traction control
the error code are as follows:
PCM 1571
1637
1638
TCS 1277 H C
Here is what I've done so far. I pulled the EBCM and sent it out to a place in Duluth, Ga. They claimed to have rebuilt the unit. I put it back on the vehicle only to see the same error messages again. Since the unit looked exactly like when I pulled it off, I called and told the folks what the errors was and sent it back to them, they kept the unit for a week and sent it back. I put it back on the car yesterday only to see the same messages. After doing some research on the web, I decided to pull ground connectors G103 and G108. and clean them. They were corroded. after reassembling both connectors, I started he vehicle to see if there was any change. the results were the same with one additional error code: PCM 0530. I am stumped as it seems the EBCM isn't the problem. Can anyone help me with this? Is the ABS pump bad? Is it even safe to drive the car with the error message being displayed? I am really at wits end, and would like to put this to rest but don't know what to do. I appreciate any help you guys can give me.
Thanks in advance,
Naytedawg

Sorry about the delay, didn't get any notices. Typically if the codes aren't caused by a component failure, they are caused by a connection problem. You were on the right track by cleaning the ground connections. Try cleaning all of the wheel sensor connections. A factory service manual is a necessity of you plan on doing your own maintenance as it will have the troubleshooting diagrams for the DTCs that a scanner displays. A good scanner would also be a good investment.
