Air Conditioner Malfunction !

Air Conditioner Malfunction !
I hate intermittent problems but till I accually get home and get time to go further into it I am looking for opinions.
Vette one [ The Hot Rod ] . A/C worked fine been using it often in Texas even in the winter.
Went to South Texas last week and my A/C went hot on me.
Well I said it must have got a leak so I tried to put in some 134 with only a cheap gage on the can.
It said it was full and had mechanical problems.
To start with it works for a while then cycles off and won't come back on till it has been off awhile then the same thing.
Jumping the compressor clutch it works fine.
Jumping the pressure switch it still doesn't work.
That's all the checks I had time to do before leaving town .
I'm thinking possibly Orifice tube or climate control switch.
Compressor as not been long rebuilt by profesional.
Another related question is vette #2 same year 95 has a reluctant fan switch which wants to stay on AUTO and you have to play with it to get the fan up to 10.
Is the fan switch a separate part or part of the climate control switch.
I'm thinking two birds with one stone if it's separate !

Had a similiar problem with my 95. Unable to control the fan speed.
There is an electrical connection on top of the blower housing (blower power module). It's left of the surge tank on the pass/side.
There are 2 connectors going to the module.
I removed & cleaned the connectors & that solved my problem.

Hard to diagnose A/C cooling problems without pressure readings. Can u post high side and low side readings. Does you car have ATC (Automatic Temp Control)? Way to tell is it will have temp settings on the a/c control head instead of slide controls. ATC units sometims have programmers go bad which can shut down the compressor. Is your compressor clutch engaged when not cooling? If it is, feel the suction line (big hose) to see if it is cold. That will tell you if the compressor is doing its job.
