Orange peel paint

Orange peel paint
I looked at 4 separate brand new Vettes today and all of them had wavy paint that broke up reflecions pretty badly. It's especially annoying on black paint, which is what I want. Is this normal with all Corvettes?

RE: Orange peel paint
Don't know what you are talkiing about. Since they dry paint/nontoxicthem anymore they really can't have orange peel, but maybe the paint isn't good. I just haven't seen any that way. From what I see, the factory paint is pretty good any more, but if it is not good enough I'd recommend having a shop rub it down and clear coat it again.

RE: Orange peel paint
It's not classic orange peel, the waves are lower frequency, like about 4mm maybe. You have to look really hard on anything other than black paint to notice it. I'm wondering if this is something new with the standard painting process or what...

RE: Orange peel paint
It probably has to do with the non-toxic emissions way they paint them. I'm not that familiar with it. They sort of Xerox paint powder on and then melt it on or something. Maybe ripples in the air blower make the waviness you saw. I'll look next time I am at a dealer.

RE: Orange peel paint
I can see it on my new 07 LeMans blue. It kind of pisses me off considering how much I paid for it. And I have a light spot in my paint on the driver's side door. Can only see it when the sun is directly on it. I guess there still building crap at GM.
