Default RE: "EFE" System-removal

Welcome to the best Vette forum Goosey1, from what I gather we are the most helpful and most friendly of the Vette forums. If your Early Fuel Evaporation (EFE) system is working properly and the car has no drive-ability issues then removing it may cause some cold weather stumbles before the engine warms up. The EFE is comprised of a number of simple components designed to force exhaust gases through a runner in the intake manifold and warm up the floor of the manifold below the carburetor. It is controlled by a thermostatic valve on the water outlet and directs vacuum to the heat riser on the right exhaust manifold. When the engine is cold the vacuum closes the heat riser valve and sends the hot gases through the intake to the other exhaust manifold, after the water temp. reaches a predetermined set point the thermostatic valve closes and opens the exhaust heat riser therefore letting the exhaust exit through both manifolds to the tailpipes. It's not difficult to bypass this system, remove the vacuum hose from the exhaust valve and plug it, now the exhaust valve should stay open no matter what mode the engine is in.
