So I have heard of guys dye ing their car carpets ,And the faded black looked poor in my vert. (grey was more like it ) so I found a dupli color spray paint for interiors at my local Canadian tire store, in black , heated up my garage and sprayed my rug .

Now I have to tell you I was a bit nervous what will it do what will it look like how will it feel.
Well it turned out great ! For a cheap fix it looks like a new rug , a light spray was all I did and it turned as black as black gets. taped around everything I did not want paint on and covered the car to prevent overspray . wish I had a gas mask though , that stuff is potent stuff .
Now if I could find a fix for the seat upholstry , typical 86 c4 seats ,shreaded!
Buy new aftermarket seats or fix the old sport seats?
Have a merry Christmas

after replacing my carpet and a few interior pieces the carpeting on my black or should i say grey door panels wear an eye soar. ive heard of the spray paint but went with the dye instead. well the dye turned the panels into a redish/black color that looked terrible. so off to the auto parts store i went to get the spray paint. the color came out perfect, the carpet felt a bit stiff at first but i just ran a brush through it to loosen it up some. it actually came out pretty good.

It's been a number of years, but I used Dupli-Color carpet spray on dye on old and worn carpets, and their vinyl spray on door panels and consoles of some older cars in the past.  My experience is that the black, and the dark gray work very well, but that reds and dark greens are just about impossible to get precisely the right color match to stock, and it shows just a bit (although it looks better than badly worn vinyl and carpets.

How well does this work on color changes. My carpet is tan and the door panels/trim pieces are dark brown. I was thinking about making everything black.

Well, I'd test a small piece some place out of sight - color changes generally don't work as well, although a change to black might -- but I would not count on it.

anyone ever paint a red to black on the door panels.  I am converting my interior to black from red.
