i am new to this whole forum thing so be kind to my "stupidity"
here is my problem i got an 383 strokerengine built by a guy in my area a few months back now i cant get ahold of him i think he moved out of state but thats not the problem.
i'm just now putting in the engine and had a couple of ?s on my mind like

what octane to run on this engine? and will it work on pump gas?
here is the build:
i was told the compression was 10.5:1 and it has aluminum heads
well here is a pic of the build paper

sorry could not figure how to show it on here!!
i will be greatful for any help before i start it on pump gas

Rule of thumb is that 10.5:1 compression is the absolute limit on pump 93.  If it were me, I'd start with some boosted or mixed 97 or so and work my way down to 93.  You'll want to keep an ear out for wierd sounds, early detonation, knocking, etc..  I would also invest in a lighted scope and keep an eye on the pistons (through the plug holes) for signs of scorching.  Additives and race gas to mix in is cheap compared to burned pistons in your toy.

This is the best call here.

Where's the 600 horses from? Blower? 3 dueces? Twin 4's?

That's alot of power from a 383 twister and only 10.5:1 squeeze...

Octane is octane...  it is a petroleum fuel property that describes the combustion point.  You can have it added by the gas company, or add some in yourself from a bottle.  The result should be the same.  Personally, I would buy good pump gas and add some from a bottle to get up around 96-97 if you want to go burn off some tires some weekend.  For just plain cruising around town and occasionally showing off, I'd drop the timing a tad and stick with pump 93.  Nice to have the choice...
