When I was putting my right rear wheel and tire back on my car I broke the lug nut stud.First time I ever snapped something while using a torque wrench. Now I can't figure out how to install a new one. I have the caliper off and the rotor off, and the old stud removed, but the parking brake mechanism is behind the wheel hub and there isn't enough room behind the hub to get the new stud in and slide it through the hole in the wheel hub.Does anyone know how to do this procedure?

not sure on that set up, never did one on a vette, but on other cars you should be able to rotate the hub and there should be a position where you can slide the bolt in usually you could only do one bolt at a time. hope this helps.

Thats a bummer! That never happened to me but I think your going to have to take apart some or all the parking brake mechanism to get that new stud in there. PG

Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned I did try rotating the hub but there is no place that will work. Also I don't know how to remove the hand brake shoes as the hub appears in the way for removing the springs. Hopefully someone here knows how.

It's a PITA but doable.  Strongly recommend that unless your's is in pristine condition, that you spring for a stainless steel rebuild kit.  I think that the kit comes with instructions.  The service manual is also helpful.

Today while woking at taking my trailng arms apart I notice someone had replaced the a stud. So remove the paking brake adjuster on the bottom  adjust it to the smalles point first, spread the shoes with a screw-driver pull it out. rotate the spindle so the open stud hole is on the bottom. you will have to hammer the stud up and into the hole witch will dent the (Dust Shield) backing plate. I noticed what was clearly the dent of a stud on backing plate today
