I am looking for any info on how to replace the Bose radio. Cructhfield will sell you the radio and speakers, but they don't have any kind of mounting brackets or wiring harness; any info on where some one bought a good looking bracket and wiring for the car would be greatly appciated.

I replaced all of my Bose with aftermarket speakers. I took the speaker cabinets out and removed the guts and installed some good quality speakers without the Bose amplifiers in the boxes and reinstalled the boxes back in the doors and rear. They work great. You just have to figure out the wiring, it wasn't bad at all.

Preddy, I just did this in my '84. Pioneerr 3800, two 6x9's in the back and 6 1/2 in the doors. Since it was Bose, everything had to go. I used a dash kit and wiring adapter from Wally-World. Head unit in dash and rear speaker very easy. Speakers in door, very painful. Getting the old Bose enclosures out was a trck. I used adapters from Ebay in mounting the door speakers. Sounds very nice and it was a good opertunity to replace dash/panel bulbs. Whole deal was less than $300.00 Good Luck, Randy

Your tuner pack is on the passenger side of the car buried in the dashboard where your glove box would be if you had one. a standard metra part number 70-1858 harness is a direct plug in adapter for an aftermarket stereo installation and you would just need to extend the wires to the radio location, as well as the antenna connection. as for the dash kit that will work you can contact metra at (800)221-0932 and they will happily tell you what dash kit it is and where to go to get one in your area. if your bose amps arent working properly then you may have to bypass them, they are located at each speaker location, inside the bose boxes that split into 2 halves after you remove about 10 screws from each one. you have to determine wich speaker leads are the inputs to the bose amp and splice them into the outputs to the speaker inside each bose box. the remote turn on lead in the metra harness is also for your power antenna...hope to god this works properly because it is costly and difficult to change the antenna in this car. If your looking for similar sound to what the bose system sounded like brand new then be prepared to shell out at least 8-15 hundred dollars for equipment and installation. the best advise I can give you is if your looking at it....and it doesnt make sense to you...dont touch it! :D
