Let me start by saying that I have been reading the street and strip for a while and i like it but frankly put there is a little bit o' well... b.s. not by any of the faithfull forum menbers but by "outsiders".

I live in Trion GA about three hrs. from atlanta, I work in Rome GA at Floyd medical center (its a hospital), and on my daily route I just never see anything worth racing on the street(I'm not much of a person who will race on the street, mainly for safety, I have had friends get killed from it).
well I have been driving this route for about two months, and nothing that runs a 15 second 1/4 mile or fatster has been on it(atleast that I've seen).
Well, as you can understand I have been wondering if there are any fast cars in this area??? (mostly just W/T mustangs and camaros (V-6)'s nothing worth the risk by any standards!!!. It just so happens this morning 9/4/07 at 730a on the way home from work , I work 7p-7a(nights) there is an white e46 BMW m3 well needless to say I got a lil aroused at the idea of a challenge for the faster car, well sense i was desperate at this point I said "well it's the fasted thing I've seen in a few months so why not.(easy kill)
The e46 was really the one to start this, im crusing at about 60mph the speed limit is 55 and there are no light for miles and miles aswell as no cars (its a two lane road), im crusing in the left lane, well what do I see other than HID headlighting approaching me at a rapid rate mabey 90 MPH, at this point I feel a lil excitement, he catches me and slows to 60MPH, I knew this ment only one thing he wanted to race, now my car does intimidate people b/c it very loud and the bug catcher for some reason??? well im thinking im going to wipe the road with him so I slow to 45MPH and so does he. He rolls down the window  and says "you call it" so I downshift to second and honk 3 times expecting to smoke it like a cigar but to my as
tonishment after I regain traction and go for third I hear a loud pshhhhhh come from the car to my right(uh-oh) and yes you all guessed it, every gear I dropped a car with him getting farther away in bettween shifts aswell(left me in the dust) he also never slowed down to brag or gloat(I wish he would have so I could have asked him about his car) I gave up at 145ish.
Loosing is somthing I dont take well and I do have nitrous but the bottle is out of the car and its only a 50 shot anyway... I still cant fathom how that happened but I just wanted to tell that was my 1st race since the swap and I made another corvette owner look like an ass(IM SORRY)

What gearing you got in the back end?

A ton of power, in front of a 2.54:1, or a 2.73:1, is good for the oval track, but forget a 1/4 mile. AND, 210 hp, with a close-ratio tranny, and a 5.38:1, will get off the line pretty quick...

I wouldn't race on the street. Your attitude about stuff changes after a head-on at 110mph closure speed. If you live.

There's always SOMEONE who's faster. But not always someone whose box looks better than yours!

LOL, great story. I bet his car and this is conservative was putting down 370-380 hp. How much does your vette put down? I also bet the m3 (3415 lbs) is a bit heavier than your car but the extra hp obviously won out.

No hp in your sig sorry. I did think you lost the race in my orignal post, I thought he had the extra hp.

EDIT: now I see your hp in the orignal post but not in your last one. Hmmmm he must have been putting down over 500 hp then.

Don't know there, '84.

His European twister might be a lot higher redline, with a longer powerband.

What's the higher-power optioned motor for the 7-series machine?

well cwb the BMW e46 is a 3-series and the M3 comes equipped with the S54 (its a 3.2 litre 24 valveOHC as far as I know) (333hp stock) but this one was turbocharged and the drivetrain must have been heavily modified to be that fast, but nothing on the outside of the car indicated to be that fast of a car!!!
