Hey all,

First off, I love my 1990 Coupe Mustang... It is my daily driver, sun, rain, snow, ice, etc and has been great.

I have read before about lots of people that get rid of their foxes and regret it and end up rebuying later.

So, I am on the fence, it is currently faster in a straight line than both of these cars (Cobra and Z06) I am looking at but the brakes and handling are nowhere near, and as a daily ride, albeit with worn out components it is quite harsh. Also, the fact that it always has a minor coolant leak or an oil leak, or something aggravating is getting old as well.

So do I pony up another 3-4 grand and overhaul the suspension/brakes/seats with all of the best from ford racing and maximum motorsports, or call it quits, sell it for a loss and step up to a factory built performer in all directions.

I have always wanted a z06 since they came out and I do not have any children currently but they are probably 3-4 years off if things work out (back seat/financial restrictions)
The fox has no payment, but if I divide everything I spent on it over the 3 years I have had it, it would cost be about 150-200 more a month for the corvette depending on what I can sell my stang for. The z06's are 28-35. Haven't priced the cobras yet but I expect them to be 18-25.

I would not modify either beyond a shifter/exhaust dumps/cold-air as I want factory reliability. Will be a daily driver as the fox. Keeping both is not an option as #1 can't afford it, #2 only have a 2 car garage and the wife has to have a car

oops here is a link to my current car:

Thanks!

I had an 02 stang before I got my vette and the car was heavy, the brakes sucked and the suspension was a joke. I didn't have  a terminator though just a V6. The only bashing I can do on the terminator style cobra is that they are very heavy, their engine is great and can handle massive horse power and tq. I would rather have the Z06 because it's an attention getter, most people see vettes and they think American Icon. I'm not a vette fan boy by any means either and would rather have a GT2 or GT3 Porsche over my vette. One more thing, I wouldn't say a 12.3 in your fox body is for sure faster than a stock c5 z06; It depends where you are running the car. I have seen stock c5 z06s at sea level hit very very low 12.0s.

Thanks for your response- I was leaning towards the vette over the cobra...

On being faster, while I will agree that the z06's are impressive for being naturally aspirated, my fox would run 11.7s or 11.8s if I could get a decent 60', and thats with only 5 psi.  If I pullied up to 8 it would be ridiculous, but that wasn't the point of my post.

Yeah, I have the exact same problem, I'm running 5psi as well and pull 2.5 60 foots which is horrible. I don't have Drag Radials though so that is the biggest problem.
