Hello all, I have a 2001 Z06 and about a year ago I started having problems with my car not cranking over. I towed it to the dealership and the claimed it was the battery... after changing the battery the problem still occur. Second visit the reset my alarm... still would not crank over. In 5 visits they have checked the clutch pedel, starter, key, ignition switch... I am so lost. This problem comes and goes. All the internal oppurations are fine... battery charge is good, fuel is good... anyone having any similar problems? It basically does not crank at all, i keep flicking the switch and randomly it catches and starts sometimes... the problem is getting worse where everytime i try to start i have to click the key for over a minute before it turns over. Please Help...

Hi Huggy, and welcome to the forums. If it's an intermittent problem, you could still have a starter or starter solenoid going out. You can try this....the next time it won't start, have someone help you do this. Connect a test light to the starter solenoid and see if you are getting power to the solenoid from the ignition switch. If you are getting power, I would say the solenoid or the starter is going bad. If you're not getting power, I would check the switch again. A problem that only happens every now and then can be very hard to figure out.

Any other strangeness such as with the door locks? I faced a similar problem with my starter. Well, with it sometimes taking a few seconds to start cranking and sometimes requiring that I "pump" the clutch pedal a few times in order to crank. The car also threw some bizzare and unrelated DIC codes. Turned out to be the BCM (body control module). You might have your local dealership "read" the car with their diagnostic goodies.

I do have a wierd problem with the passanger showing up as open even after I close it... i have to ether slam it or gentley click it in so the display will not show up ajar. Thanks for the suggestions, i wll take the car in to see if there is any BCM or code errors. But it seems the dealership is clue less to the solution... I'll try once again. I read somewhere there could be a problem with the ground points. I believe there is 4 or 5 body grounds... I clean the ones under the hood, but have not had time to get to the others deeper into the body. I just need the problem to occur at the dealership so they can diagnose it... Thank you
