The '93 must be different then the '87. I haven't had any problems with mine and used no resistors. Good luck with it.

You got lucky.  It doesn't always affect the 92-96 cars but it did my 92 and I had to put in the resistors.  I have an Alpine stereo, I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.

Mine is a Kenwood. Actually it's a "marine" stereo but I really don't think that matters. Just a little more expensive at full retail because it says "Marine" on the box. It's exactly like the one in my truck and so is the dang box with the exception of the word "Marine"., and that looks alittle fishy to me. No pun intended.

OK, I am truly looking for some help here..91 Vette with aftermarket Pioneer and I would like to know the following:
What wires are you all refering to per the discussion?

5. Connect the other end of one resistor to the purple/white wire in the car.
6. Connect the other end of the second resistor to the grey/black wire in the car.

Are these the dimmer and illumination wires?
Thx in advance!

I wish I could help you Drojt, I''ve only had experience with the older stuff, before computerized auto''s, things were pretty straight forward then. Someone will come up with an answer but I think folks are still having trouble posting and replying.

Thx All..but I think that I finally got it figured out. The resistors correlate to the dimmer and illumination leads. After inserting the resistors (per the diagram), the infamous ''sys'' went away but came back after 20 miutes of driving. I think that one of the leads may have a short in or my battery may be on its'' last leg so I am reconfiguring the cabling or replacing the battery this weekend. Thx again for the reply. BTW, I installed a Pioneer AVIC D3 system....it fits the double din easily and looks great! Enjoy and Yes Yes a thousand times yes.....more computers!

i also have a question but this isnt about installing an aftermarket radio its about the amps in the stock  bose speakers in a 91 vette, i read somewhere that the capacitors on the amps are usually the first thing to go bad if i were to replace the capacitors with ones i buy at radioshack and solder them in would that fix it or is there more than the capacitor that goes bad "commonly"
