I was reading another post earlier about removed catalytic converters and a seal that needs to be closed off on top the engine for the air pump.  Hope I read this right.   I just had mine removed.  There were three (normal?)... exhaust sound pretty good.  How do I find if there is an exhaust leak?  What do I need to seal off?   I recently purchased a 1990 L98 white gorgeous...85,000miles.  It had a Zr1 kit w/ wheels, side moldings, front and rear bumper, console LT5 flip w/specs cup holder cover thing,  Red leather interior and not a scratch on either seat (praise God).  My first vette.  Dude wanted $8,000 for it.  The check gauges light is on along w/ the seat belt light.  I took it to the local shop and scanned the OBD1.  Oil temp sensor,  Knock sensor, EGR system.  I replaced the Knock sensor but not the module...is this need too?  Anyway the car ran like crap the day I brought it home.  Removed the cat convs and replaced the ESC sensor (knock sensor).  Runs much better.  Still not perfect though.  Sorry for the rambles and such a long post.  This is my first post.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Kevin

Hi Kevin!

Welcome to the Forum! As far as your questions are concerned, I have no personal experience with the 90 Corvette or the modifications that go with it. As far as removing the cats' are concerned, I would be concerned about getting the car through emissions inspections. I have a '79 with lots of mods and dual exhaust, but opted for catalytic converters just to be on the safe side with the LEO's.
Your 'Vette looks really sweet! Good luck with getting the bugs worked out!

thanks deevee,  luckily I live in Alabama and the emissions thing is well, not a concern nor is it required to put through inspection.  Used to live in San Diego I know they can be really harsh.  Lucked out though.  Welcome to the south!

That's the first time I've ever seen an INTERIOR changed from '90 before, to '91 later.

I didn't even know it could be done, with the dash / airbags / center console.

Have you seen the title to that vehicle, and carfax???
