The Seat in my '74 vette are extreamely worn and have some holes in them. Has anyone redone their seats themselves? How hard is it? and If i were to do it what kind of tools would i need?

Recovering your seats is doable but not eactly easy. I have heard guys complaining of sore fingers from all of the pulling and coaxing that the new seat covers need. There are many sources for the seat covers, Ecklers, Al Knoch and Wilcox (on Ebay) are a few that come to mind.

If you have a few extra bucks and want a professional job done Ecklers has a service where you send your stripped down seats to them and they send the seats redone with the stock or material offered back to you like new.

I did mine own and a couple of sets for a friend. It's not terribly difficult. Two tools, one is a pair of hog ring pliers and the other is a long rod with a hook on one end and T-handle on the other (used to pull wires thru the foam to hook on the springs.

Hey 74 I would definately have them done. The seats are a main focal point of the interior and if done incorrectly will really stand out. I took the opportunity to sandblast and powder coat my frames when I had mine redone. Won't have to ever worry about frame deterioration in the future either.

Are any forum members up to taking on the task? Whatta ya say 73shark? How much would doing seats cost? I'm thinking about too.

Unless you're in the KC Metro area, it would cost too much to ship to me. It's not that tough.

If you're not up to it, try to find a local auto upholstery shop to do them.
