My orginal 76 is ready for a new set of seat covers. The VIN denotes vinyl, but i'm considering leather. does anybody know what the value effect will be if i go with leather v/s vinyl - keeping in mind the is a matched numbers vehicle.

is it an L48 or L82 car?

Value is obviously relative. Some would rather it were in a "stock" configuration, others would prefer the upgrade to leather. If you plan on keeping the car, I would recommend going with what you like themost which sounds like leather...

the reason that i asked about the model number..in 1976 they made 46,558 corvettes, and 1976 was among the earlier years for the emissions features on the vettes. the L48s were surprisingly low horsepower, around 180, and there fore arent as sought after as are the L82s. it would be one thing to tear out the interior of a split window coupe...but like mac said, if youre gonna keep it for a while, adding leather that is done the right way should scare perspective buyers away.
