'08 Corvette Z51 Challenged By A '93 Viper (Who Will Win?)

I own an Aamco Transmission in NY and one of the tow truck drivers for our shop owns a bone stock white '93 Viper,he claims it has 400hp, so I checked and they do, and they also have 480 torque (lb-ft). And the builder at my shop just got a black '08 Corvette Z51 six-speed w/ new dual mode exaust. The tow truck driver challenged my builder to a race, who will win? My builder is sure that he can give the Viper a run for its money, and the tow truck driver guaruntees he will smoke the Vette, and says he has smoked new Z06's, which either of us believe, and this guy is known to talk smack, but he is still a pretty cool and funny guy that you just can never take serious! But I'm just wondering what you guys think about this challenge and it's possible results?

They plan to race this weekend at a parking lot I own near my factory it is approximately 1/3 of a mile long who wins? Pelase respond!!!!

If his viper is stock hes a liar. He hasen't come close to smoking new Z06s or even C5 Z06s and an 08 base vette will give him a real run for his money. I say it's a drivers race and really can't pick a winner.

Well of course Darren, "Mr. Unreliable" as we call him, never showed up, and now it is snowing in N.Y. so unless it clears up quick, we won't have this race till spring, and even in the cold weather, both cars won't hook up very well to the cold pavement! I believe it is probably a driver's race, but due to the fact that I think the Corvette is lighter than that year Viper and has almost equal power, the Vette can take the Viper. I know he hasn't beaten any new C6 Z06's becasue that car is in the range of Ferrari's. And I believe Motor Trend said that the new '08 Vette auto is not as fast as a C5 Z06, and his is a manual, so it probably is a little better, so I thin khe can beat the Viper, but it ultimately, like any race will be a driver's race! Go Vette!

I bet the Vette will win. My buddy just sold his older Viper GTS coupe (Dark grey with lighter silver stripes) to get the new C6. Previous to that, he had a modded blue 02 ZO6 and before that a modded 01 Trans Am WS6. There is a reason he went back to a Vette! lol

Well, I just installed my new 13" rotors front & back from baer.Plus my 265/45/17 for the front and 295/40/18 for the backs with ZO6 Rims. cant wait till summer time.

93 Vipers are nothing special. They are heavy and sluggish. The LS3 will have no problem, my LS6 would hand that dinosaur its ass.
