I have an amp and 10" sub that I want to add to my stock Bose stereo in my '01 Z06. Whats the best way to hook it up? More specifically what outputs on the head unit do I connect to the amp?  Does the head unit have outputs for a sub?  would i splice into one of the speaker outputs? Tap the 100 watt amp that powers the 8's.  Im a total novice at audio stuff so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

In order to connect an aftermarket amp to a factory head unit (Radio / CD player) you will need some type of interface adapter. Most times a simple LOC (Line Output converter), which converts your speaker wires to an RCA line output. LOC's come in all "shapes and sizes" meaning that a good one will cost more than a cheap one (Cheap = low cost components inside)

I would tap off the rear speaker wires when connecting the LOC. DO NOT tap off the Bose amp input.

ok i've heard of a line output converter. Can i just tap the rear speaker wires so the speakers continue to work while providing input for my sub's amp or will it draw too much and damage the head unit?  Thanks for the info.

Yes, you can tap directly off of the rear speakers, no problem.
