This past sunday morning was cold (37 degrees) but very dry and clear with sunny skies. My son and I took the 'vette out to a nice level stretch of 4-line which has no entry roads, etc., and did a few acceleration runs with the G-tech which we've found usually is accurate within about .1 seconds. Once it is warmed up this car really likes cold weather. With two on, and my son driving the car did a best 0-150 time of 13.6 seconds. That's a new record for this car. The way this car pulls at speeds above 100 is phenomenal.

0-150 in just 13.6 seconds in pretty amazing. Does the G-tech record how much distance you traveled to reach that speed? Oh and by the way how much do those G-Techs cost I might have to look into buying one.

Amazing! I don't know whether you know it but that's liter bike territory! It'd take a really good rider to hang. You've got the aero advantage on top, so if a bike doesn't get a good launch on ya it's game over. Congrats on that monster! My best on my 1000rr in track and not drag trim is 10.4 @142. Wheelies in the first 3. That's at sea level-Houston Raceway Park. Depending on wind, weather and the positions of Jupiters moons the bike tops in the low 180's. My not yet enhanced 84 has seen 144 indicated, felt like there wasn't much left to come, maybe a bit but not much.

The G-techs come in a variety of models from simple, to what we have, to one that computes and graphs your engines HP curve (it plugs into the cigarette lighter for power and apparently by monitoring the power waveform their it can figure out your engine RPM automatically). They run from about $200 to $600+. On the big bikes, they are truly amazing in terms of acceleration. Our best is a 10.3 at 133 on drag radials, right at 10 with slicks on a sanctioned track, an indicated 9.9+ by G tech.

we did g-tech runs at the track ,the 168,00 dollar one we did 10 passes it was off by 2 seconds, some times 1 second, then it was off some tenths.to many variables,my opinion and my fellow friends agree with me, test show proof, junk, maybe the big dollar one is better,?i have a mustang that runs,9.30's speed is 152 mph,in quater, the track dont lie,the g tec said i ran 10.30 at 133 mph, we ran several runs and was nowere nere my times, and my car runs low 9's consitantly. You have to calibrate them. We gradually dialed ours in at the track and comparing it to the strip timers until it was spot on. Ours is within about a tenth second in the Porsche (runs mid 13s, the Camaro (mid 9s) or the 'vette (10) now but it took quite a while to get it adjusted right. It pays to buy the upscale model as it has more adjustable features, but it and some others have to be readjusted and checked when you move them from car to car.

There was an article in Car and Driver or Motor Trend last year about the G-tech and others and it talked a lot about how to calibrate them. We followed its advice. Maybe we just have a good one, but remember, by calibrate, we mean we have adjustments we make to the readings it gives. It may say "10.3" when the track timer says 9.9, but it always says 10.3 when it;s 9,9, etc. and it says 10.4 when it is 10.05, and maybe 11 when its 10.7, etc., -- we have a table we used to adjust it (and the adjustment is the same for Camaro or Vette, or a fast '86 Mustang of a friend). It is spot on only above 13 seconds -- gets the Porsche to the .05 second but misses the trap speed by about 2 mph. The Camaro is running a cast iron 408 LS6 with Eagle crank and rods and JP pistons, all built by HP Engineering in Houston, with AFR big port heads ported and polished custom, 2.08 inch intake valves 11.25:1, etc., etc., all the usual goodies Lumpy idle at 1150 RPM< and about 540 N.A. at 7K, and 225-250 nitrous in stages, with 300 a sometimes thing in cold weather -- can't get that to work in summer. Big cam, I forget exactly, we went through so many, about 265-275 degrees and .7 lift, tremendous but we pull the rocker covers and it all looks okay every so often. We're using Hornet shaft rockers which I never heard of, had a set sitting on a shelf we picked up a set through Lingenfelter kinda of my accident and Ling. swore they were good but I went with Jesl on my vette, so we used them on the Camaro --and they seem to work well. The car is licensed and streetable although its a pig to drive because of the locker axle, but its fun to cruise, too, because it is SO anti-social. We have a 6-speed, probably our downfall. 1/4 mile times vary by up to a second because of the launch: when we work it well we get a 60 foot well under 1.6, and one great time my son launched it at 1.5, still not that great for nines, but we can't launch well most times, on the other hand the thing pulls like a SOB in 2nd and third, when its dialed in it is doing about 800 RWHP, but it does not matter, when we don't launch well we do in the low tens. The vette beats it once in a while because, even with its 6-speed, it is so consistent, 10.3 -10.0, possible a high 9-er if I would abuse it, but I can't beat up my baby like that. And the poor old Porsche, stock, with its automatic. Does 13.45-13.5 all day long, or 14.1 if we forget to hit the downshift button and it starts out in 2nd (for fuel econmy the trans is programmed to start out in 2nd unless you say different).
