wheel studs - 3/9/2006 11:55:27 PM    383Stroker   Posts: 8 Joined: 1/11/2006 Status: offline How hard is it to change wheel studs on a c3? i broke 3 off on the passanger side, rear. if anyone could point me to a write up or tell me in a brief discription, i would be grateful! thanks Post #: 1

RE: wheel studs - 3/10/2006 12:26:37 PM    Clayton   Posts: 115 Joined: 10/13/2005 From: Athens Georgia Status: offline If I am not mistaken, the rear on a C3 (you didn't specify year) has drum brakes so you should be able to pull the brake drum off and knock out the broken ones with a punch and hammer. Then insert the new ones from the inside of the drum. Never done it on a corvette but have on other GM vehicles of that era. I think I'm right. Someone tell me if I am wrong. Insert the new ones in holes from inside and use a standard steel lug nut turned around backwards with a washer behind it. Screw the lug on each stud and here's where its tricky. It sure helps to have an air compressor with a 1/2 " impact to buzz it right on the back side til the shoulderof the stud seats on the hub. _____________________________ L.B.
